Our goal is to put forward the perfect candidate for each mandate we are entrusted to complete. To this end we work feverishly, leaving no stone unturned. Success is often achieved through our unique ability to identify, contact and submit the "passive candidate": that individual who is not actively looking to make a career change and for this reason, often goes unnoticed by in-house recruiting departments and our competition alike. To complement this practice, we employ the most comprehensive, exhaustive, and state-of-the-art candidate sourcing tools available. This includes, but is not limited to, industry association memberships, partnering agency affiliations, general subscription databases and traditional advertising. Harnessing the power of our resources, ingenuity, creativity and persistence, Stoakley-Stewart Consultants will ensure that you, our client, have an opportunity to court the absolute best talent for the job opening you strive to fill. At Stoakley-Stewart, we are driven by a high degree of ethics, professionalism, astuteness and effectiveness. You won't find a better agency to partner with in your search for top quality candidates, whether they be operational, middle, or senior management within the GTA or throughout North America. We look forward to working with you. Stoakley-Stewart is also a proud and longstanding member of NPAworldwide, a network of international recruitment agencies working together to facilitate placements. Our membership in this exclusive network gives us global reach and grants us access to a pool of passive candidates developed by more hundreds of reputable firms and thousands of recruiters across 6 continents.

🔥💧🌪️ One Disaster Restoration Industry Leader. 3 Career Opportunities. 3 Ways to Make an Impact When It Matters Most.🦠☣️

When fire, flooding, storms, mould, asbestos, sewage, contamination or other property damage disrupts a home or business, there are professionals who step into the situation, assess what needs to happen, protect people and property, and lead the work required to make the environment safe and functional again.

Sometimes the damage is immediate and dramatic. Sometimes the danger is hidden behind walls, beneath floors, in the air, or developing slowly over time. Either way, restoration professionals are called upon to make critical decisions, coordinate specialized teams and trades, manage risk, reassure customers, and move properties from disruption toward recovery.

Right now, one established Disaster Restoration industry leader in the Greater Toronto Area is looking for three experienced professionals to help lead that work.

💼 LARGE LOSS PROJECT MANAGER🏗️

For an accomplished restoration professional ready to take on larger, more complex losses and the heightened responsibility that comes with them.

This is an opportunity to work with strong operational resources behind you while managing significant losses, building important relationships and participating directly in the financial success of the work.

💰 $100,000 base + commission on sales margin, along with a company vehicle, gas card, benefits and other company-paid expenses.

💼 MITIGATION OPERATIONS MANAGER - RESTORATION SERVICES👷

The earliest stages of a loss can determine everything that follows.

This role is for an experienced mitigation leader ready to move beyond managing individual crews or projects and help lead the people, productivity, quality and performance of the field operation itself.

💰 $75,000 base + commission + bonus, with flexible/hybrid work, company vehicle, gas card and a comprehensive benefits package.

💼 PROJECT MANAGER - RESTORATION SERVICES 📋

Behind every successful restoration project is someone keeping the many moving pieces moving in the same direction.

For an experienced restoration PM looking for a larger platform, stronger operational support and room to continue growing, this is an opportunity to manage projects from emergency response through reconstruction within a collaborative and well-resourced organization.

💰 Approximately $80,000 base + incentive program, company vehicle, benefits and paid time off.

Three different roles. Three different kinds of responsibility.

But each calls for someone who can walk into a difficult situation, bring order to complexity, lead people effectively and help turn damage, disruption and potential hazard into recovery.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 That is the human side of Disaster Restoration. 🤝

The equipment matters. The technology matters. The systems, processes, safety protocols and technical expertise matter enormously.

But ultimately, this industry depends on people who know what to do when they are needed most — whether the challenge is a catastrophic fire or flood, a major storm loss, a persistent mould problem, asbestos-containing materials, sewage contamination, structural drying, remediation, reconstruction or any of the countless other situations restoration professionals manage every day.

Our Disaster Restoration specialty practice recruits those professionals across:

🔥 Fire & Smoke Restoration
💧 Water, Flood & Structural Drying
🌪️ Storm & Wind Damage
🦠 Mould Remediation
⚠️ Asbestos & Hazardous Materials
🧪 Sewage, Contamination & Environmental Remediation
🏗️ Reconstruction & Remediation
📋 Project Management & Large Loss
👷 Mitigation & Field Operations
📐 Estimating
🤝 Business Development
🏢 Operations & Senior Leadership

Our client is an established automotive service business in Burlington looking for a licensed technician who enjoys the diagnostic side of the trade and wants some variety in the work.

How much confidence should employers still place in a great résumé and a great interview? That question is becoming harder to answer. Because hiring is, well...a little broken right now.

It's no secret. Candidates now have very capable tools for improving applications, preparing for interviews and anticipating the kinds of questions they are likely to face. None of that necessarily says anything negative about the candidate. But it does make some of the things employers have traditionally used to compare applicants less revealing than they once were.

This Harvard Business Review article looks at that problem from the employer’s side.

If résumés and interviews are becoming easier to optimize, hiring managers may need to put more weight on other ways of determining who really understands the work, who can exercise good judgment and who is most likely to perform once hired.

HBR has some interesting suggestions on how to do that without pretending AI is simply going to disappear from the hiring process.

Well worth a read for anyone involved in hiring.

☀️ August can feel quiet in hiring. It usually isn’t. 👎 Behind the slower calendars, people are thinking about their next move, employers are looking ahead to Q4, and the groundwork for a busy fall is already being laid.

The latest article (link in Comments section) from our VP, Patrick Laforet, explores why these last few weeks of summer can be such a valuable window. Both for employers who want to get ahead of their hiring needs AND for candidates who want to be ready when opportunities begin to move.

The advantage isn’t predicting what fall will bring. It’s being ready when everyone else starts reacting to it.

👔 Hiring this fall? Tell us what your team needs and where the gaps are. We’ll help you turn that into a practical search strategy and start identifying the right people. Write us at [email protected] or visit our EMPLOYERS link in the Comments section.
