Is your resume getting noticed, or just getting scanned and skipped? ⏱️
Most resumes don’t get rejected because people lack experience, but because they aren’t structured in a way that’s easy to quickly understand.

✓Your most important points should be instantly visible, especially in headings and early words of each bullet.
✓Instead of making broad claims about your skills, back them with specific micro-proof examples
✓Place your strongest achievements in the middle sections of your resume so you keep the reader engaged beyond the first glance
✓Always tailor your resume to match the job description, reflecting the language, priorities, and skills the employer is actually looking for.
✓Strengthen clarity by grouping similar skills together, which helps recruiters quickly understand your areas of expertise
✓Highlight transferable skills from volunteer work, freelance projects, or unrelated roles that still demonstrate your capabilities.

To mark the 30th anniversary milestone, we asked the faces who make Career Edge what it is and to share what this work means to them. What they said is honest, specific, and sometimes surprising. Across different roles, different years of tenure, and different reasons for joining, a common thread emerged: this is work that gets under your skin in the best way. You come for the mission and stay because of the people, both the ones you help and the ones you work beside.

"Why aren't you finding a job yet, you should apply for more jobs!"

No Because job searching IS a full-time job. And you're exhausted.

"Why aren't you finding a job yet? You should apply for more jobs!"
• Customize 5 resumes (2 hours)
• Write 5 cover letters (3 hours)
• Research companies (1 hour)
• Prep for interviews (2 hours)
• Handle rejection (emotionally draining)
• Repeat daily while pretending you're fine

That's 8+ hours. Every. Single. Day.

Here's your permission slip:

✓ You don't have to apply to 20 jobs a day, 2-3 QUALITY applications > 20 rushed ones
✓ Taking a day off doesn't make you lazy
✓ Set job search hours (9am-3pm, then STOP)
✓ Take weekends off (yes, really)
✓ Celebrate small wins (interview scheduled = win)

Job searching is hard work. Treat it like the job it is, with boundaries, breaks, and self-compassion.

Save this for the days you feel guilty for resting!

The real challenge? Full-time job openings are shrinking while the job hunt is getting harder. Read the full breakdown

30 Years of Career Edge in Summary:
- We know that diversity is not a compliance obligation. It is a competitive advantage that shows up in product quality, customer relationships, and organizational resilience.
- We know that the biggest barriers to inclusive hiring are not malicious. They are structural, and they can be redesigned.
- We know that paid internships/placements, when well-designed and professionally supported, are one of the highest-ROI talent investments available to Canadian employers.
- People build organizations. How you find them, welcome them, and invest in them determines everything else.
The next 30 years of Canadian workforce development will be defined by employers who understood early that talent was never in short supply. It was simply a matter of waiting for the right invitation.
