She’s being paid. Yes.

She also left her children, her parents, and her home to be in yours. Almost 24/7. With limited power, in a place she doesn’t know yet, trying very hard not to get it wrong.

Your job isn’t just to give instructions. It’s to offer reassurance, kindness, and patience. A warm welcome isn’t soft — it’s the foundation of a relationship that actually lasts.

A happy helper stays longer. Works better. Builds real trust with your family.

Comment ONBOARD for the free guide — includes a full first-week checklist and section on making her feel genuinely welcome.

“She chose to sacrifice her family to support yours. Welcome her like it.”

Quit our comfortable jobs to start a... maid agency? Yeah, we get that a lot.

It’s been wildly humbling. Between the late night calls and sudden visits to the hospital & airport, it’s definitely not glamorous. But helping families and helpers find each other makes the chaos worth it.

Sharing the actual, unfiltered journey of building gentleHelp here. Come say hi!

She was returned by her previous employer.

And when I saw her at the mall that day... she was glowing.

There’s a stigma around transfer helpers.
That being returned means something is wrong with them.

But think about your first job. Were you perfect on day one?

Neither was I.

A difficult first placement doesn’t define
who they are. It’s just the beginning of their story.

If you needed a second chance... wouldn’t you want someone to give it to you?

Everybody deserves a second chance.

“Transfer helpers always have attitude problems.” 😳

On paper, Siti looks like a risk with an 8-month stint. The reality? Her elderly employer passed away.
Her previous family wrote: “She cared for our father with a patience and gentleness that we couldn’t always provide.”

Short stints don’t mean bad helpers. Usually, it’s just a change in family circumstances or a mismatch of strengths.

The right helper isn’t always where you expect to find her.

A helper. 24th floor ledge. No harness.

Here’s what the law says — two conditions must be met before your helper can clean
exterior windows:

1️⃣ Grilles installed and locked throughout
2️⃣ You or another adult physically present to supervise

Lentor Modern broke both.

MOM can and will take action.

But forget the consequences.
Her life is not worth a clean window.

Think about it — grilles exist to stop her from falling.
If she’s already on the ledge outside?
They’re not working.
And neither are you.

Both conditions. Every single time. 🤍

Most helpers say yes. But are they really ready? 🤍

When your child has special needs, finding the right helper isn’t just about childcare experience — it’s about temperament, emotional instinct, and knowing how to show up when things get hard.

General experience won’t prepare someone for meltdowns, hours of silence, or the patience that only comes from truly understanding a child who moves through the world differently.

That’s why we do matching differently.

We look beyond the biodata — at how a candidate responds under pressure, what their life experience has built in them, and whether they’re genuinely suited for your family.

Not the best helper. The right one. That distinction changes everything.

👉 If you’re looking for a more intentional approach to finding support for yourchild, we’re here.

Thinking about replacing your helper?
Read this before you decide. 👇
There are 3 things I always ask employers first.

Have you actually told her what’s not working?
Not hinted - told her. Clearly. Specifically.
Have you given her real time to improve?
Not a few days. A few weeks of genuine opportunity.
After all that, has anything changed?

If yes to all three and nothing has shifted..
it’s okay to consider a replacement.
It doesn’t make you a bad employer.
It means the fit wasn’t right.
Your family deserves someone who fits.
And so does she. 🤍

Stop hiring domestic helpers based on their biodata. Here’s why it fails👇

When 90-year-old Ahma clashed with her new helper, it wasn’t because the helper was bad at her job. On paper, she was perfect. The issue? A misfit in language, personality, and expectations.
