Join Michael Lederman and Michael Kahn for Well-Being Media Mondays with the Michaels, a twice-monthly drop-in conversation where media becomes a springboard for reflection and connection with your peers.

In September, we're exploring two themes:
πŸ—“οΈ September 14 – Value of Connection: The #1 Predictor of Health, Happiness & Longevity
πŸ—“οΈ September 28 – Gratitude

Before each session, you'll watch, listen to, or read a short piece of media, then come together for a thoughtful conversation about what it means for well-being and legal practice. No prep pressure, no right answers, just fresh perspectives and good company.

Happy New Year? At LAPBC, we think so. πŸ‚

September isn't about becoming someone new. It's about reconnecting with the person you want to be and choosing, with intention, how to show up this fall.

This fall, we're offering programming designed with that in mind: a workshop on managing emotions for legal professionals, a self-compassion support group, our new drop-in Well-Being Media Mondays, and more. Explore what's ahead and find what fits you.

Does September feel more like a fresh start than January to you? You're not alone. As summer winds down and routines return, many of us feel that pull between looking back and gathering ourselves for what's next.

Transitions are hard, and in legal practice, they often happen without much acknowledgment. Instead of resolutions, what if we made gentler commitments this fall? What do I want to make space for? How do I want work to feel this season? What boundaries serve me?

This fall, LAPBC is offering workshops designed to support you through the transition: managing emotions for legal professionals, a self-compassion support group, our new drop-in Well-Being Media Mondays, and more. We'd love to have you join us.

Claire Marchant explores why September invites recalibration, not reinvention, in her latest blog: https://www.lapbc.com/blog/happy-new-year

Ever catch yourself cross-examining your own feelings? πŸ§ βš–οΈ Lawyers are trained to weigh evidence, consider alternative explanations, and question conclusions. But when it comes to recognizing workplace harm, those same skills can work against us.

In her latest blog, Claire Marchant explores how "your lawyer brain" might be keeping you from trusting your own experience, and why your feelings deserve a place in the evidence, even before you've built an airtight case.

On Canada Day, we reflect on what it means to live and work in this country - not just the celebration, but the ongoing responsibility of building a more inclusive, compassionate, and just society.

Canada is often described through its landscapes, diversity, and values. It is also a country shaped by a complex history where necessary work continues toward truth, reconciliation, and justice.

Wishing all of our BC legal community a meaningful Canada Day - whether in celebration, reflection, or both. Connection and belonging are at the heart of well-being, and we hope you take time to recharge and appreciate the people around you.
