We partnered with this client to place a senior technical sales leader in Calgary—a role tied directly to aggressive revenue goals and market expansion. What followed was strategy, headhunting, and a candidate-led approach that led to a perfect match.

Here’s what our client shared with their U.S. leadership team after the hire.

Over lunch at Pier 7 with the VP of Operations from one of our long-standing clients, we were given a direct challenge:

“Find us the most accomplished outbound technical sales professional in the Calgary area.”

Why the urgency?

The company had just been handed a Western Canada growth mandate—aimed at doubling revenue within an aggressive timeline. Achieving that goal meant hiring a Senior Business Development leader with a very specific profile: “Proven experience closing deals at the C-suite level of Multimillion dollar multinational organizations”.
We rolled up our sleeves and got to work.

Using our direct headhunting methods and tools, we sourced, engaged, and interviewed seven high-caliber candidates. Each one was personally walked through the opportunity, with a focus on both its short- and long-term potential for career and financial growth.

When we first spoke to the candidate who ultimately got the job, he wasn’t interested.

As a Regional Manager already leading his own team, this role would have technically meant a step back in title—and he made that clear. But rather than walk away, we leaned in. We kept the conversation going. By asking questions about his 5–10 year vision, we uncovered that his long-term goals aligned perfectly with our client’s succession planning. Once he saw how the role could evolve, his curiosity turned to commitment.

After two video calls and a flight to Vancouver, he made the move.
Today, he’s leading sales across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba—and crushing it. He’s earning what he wanted, finally on a path that supports the future he wants for himself and his family.
