Ontario is home to more than 70% of Canada's greenhouse vegetable production!

• Ontario greenhouse farmers grow tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers in climate-controlled environments.

• Greenhouses allow farmers to extend the growing season and produce fresh vegetables throughout much of the year.

• Some greenhouses use beneficial insects to help manage pests and reduce the need for pesticides.

From fresh tomatoes to crunchy cucumbers and colourful peppers, Ontario greenhouse farmers help bring locally grown vegetables to our plates!

From farm to table, it takes a lot of hard work to keep Canadians nourished. 🌾

On , we are recognizing the farm operators across Canada who help make it possible. When we conducted the 2021 Census of Agriculture, 262,600 farm operators were counted across the country! 🚜

Harvest season is in full swing across Ontario!

As farmers work hard to bring in this year's crops, you may notice more tractors, combines and other large farm equipment travelling on rural roads.

A little patience goes a long way in keeping everyone safe this harvest season!

Slow down and stay alert. Farm equipment often travels at slower speeds than regular traffic.

Keep your distance. Large equipment may have limited visibility and need extra room to turn.

Pass with caution. Only pass when it's safe and legal to do so, and never assume a farmer pulling to the right is letting you pass. They may be preparing to turn left.

Be patient. A few extra minutes on the road can make all the difference in getting everyone home safely.

Let's work together to keep Ontario's farmers and rural roads safe this harvest season!
