Sydney University Boat Club SUBC

Sydney University Boat Club SUBC Founded in 1860, SUBC is among oldest sporting clubs in Australia. SUBC also has a strong as well as a long history.

It is known by many (throughout Australia, and the world) as The Home of Rowing. It has been the beginning of many great rowing careers at university, State, national and international level. Current club members compete at all levels of rowing from Olympic, World Championships, state and club events.

Next up, we're excited to introduce our second male SUBC athlete selected to represent Australia on the international stage – Marcus Della Marta 🇦🇺

Marcus will be racing in the Men's Quad Scull at the World Cup later this month, proudly wearing the green and gold as he takes on some of the world's best crews. We can't wait to see him in action. 💚💛

Sydney University Boat Club is proud to celebrate five members of our community who have been named finalists for the Rowing NSW Annual Awards 2025–26.

Congratulations to:

🏆 Marcus Della Marta – State Team Athlete of the Year and Oarsman of the Year
🏆 Hamish Danks – Oarsman of the Year
🏆 Tom Laurich – Coach of the Year
🏆 Patricia Boland – Junior Oarswoman of the Year

These nominations are a reflection of the dedication, commitment and success demonstrated by our athletes and coaches throughout the season, both on and off the water.

Last weekend, alongside the christening of five newly named boats, we were proud to unveil a new series of athlete plaques recognising members of the SUBC community whose achievements have left a lasting mark on Australian rowing.

Last weekend, SUBC hosted a fantastic morning as alumni, members and friends came together to celebrate the club's rich history and bright future.

As part of the day, we were proud to christen five boats named in recognition of those who have played an important role in the history and success of Sydney University Boat Club:

SUBC athletes shining at NCAA Championships🚣‍♀️🤘

Congratulations to Imogen Grey and Jess Colbran on their outstanding performances at the NCAA Rowing Championships at Lake Lanier Olympic Park, Georgia.

Imogen helped the University of Texas Varsity Eight produce a remarkable performance to claim the NCAA title in a record-breaking 5:47.7, setting a new NCAA Championship record in the process.

Jess was also part of Texas's victorious Varsity Four, which delivered one of the most exciting races of the regatta. Showing incredible grit, the crew surged through the field in the closing stages to secure the NCAA Championship title.

To see SUBC athletes competing — and winning — at the highest levels of university rowing around the world is something we're incredibly proud of.

A golden weekend in Seville for SUBC. 🥇🇦🇺

Congratulations to SUBC athlete Jaime Ford, who helped power the Australian Women's Eight to gold at the Rowing World Cup. In a thrilling race, the girls showed strength and composure throughout, combining power, precision and teamwork to deliver a well-earned gold medal performance. 💚💛

A huge congratulations also to Emily Sheppard, who raced to an impressive second place in the B Final of the Women's Quadruple Sculls, securing an 8th-place overall ranking. An outstanding result in the crew's first international regatta together and a promising sign of what's to come.

We're incredibly proud to see SUBC athletes performing on the world stage and representing Australia with distinction.

We’re proud to announce our fourth SUBC athlete selected to represent Australia at this weekend’s Rowing World Cup in Spain. 🇦🇺

From the erg room to the international stage — it’s been incredible to see our athletes earning their shot against the world’s best.
