💛 Refugee Week 2026: A Million Stories
This week is about recognising the strength, resilience and contributions of people from refugee backgrounds — and sharing the stories behind that journey.
Dange is one of those stories.
After arriving in Australia last year with her two young sons, she’s been working hard to build a safe and stable future. Back home in Papua New Guinea, she worked as a secondary teacher and as an Examination Officer in a police training division, bringing strong experience supporting learning environments.
Starting again in a new country hasn’t been easy, but Dange has embraced every opportunity to grow.
Through HTN’s Pre‑Traineeship Program in Early Childhood Education and Care, she’s built practical skills, gained confidence, put herself forward for roles working with children and now has interviews on the horizon.
With support from job readiness workshops and Dress for Success, Dange continues to build her confidence and create new opportunities for herself and her family.
Her story is just one of many — each one helping shape the strong, diverse communities we’re proud to be part of.
