Tickets for “Beyond the Curriculum Symposium” are up in our bio!!!
Beyond the Curriculum Symposium is a high-impact half-day event built around the parts of medicine students most want, and need, to understand, but are rarely taught properly. Every talk is built around topics students are genuinely curious about but rarely get clear, honest answers on: what happens after graduation, how medicine works outside the textbook, what difficult real-world care actually looks like, and how different training and career pathways can shape the kind of doctor you become. 💙
The program will feature sessions from:
- The NSW Doctors Union (ASMOF) on life after medical school and why the union matters.
- The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) on what rural medicine actually offers and whether it really makes you a better doctor
- How Artificial Intelligence is shaping healthcare catered specifically to medical students
- Clinical sessions on challenging and under-discussed areas of practice, including Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD), Termination of Pregnancy, and others (Announced soon!)
Alongside an exceptional speaker lineup, the symposium is also a rare chance to meet and network with medical students from universities across NSW, making it not only an educational event, but one of the best opportunities all year to build connections beyond your own campus in a low-cost academic setting.
Expect a genuinely engaging afternoon, complementary food, free merch, a certificate of attendance (for your MD portfolios!) and a program designed to leave you more informed, more prepared, and far less in the dark about the realities of medicine beyond the curriculum.
Will you be coming?
