💗 Connie Jakab is the founder of Bravely Connected Communities, a Calgary-based nonprofit she started out of a simple belief: people and neighbourhoods already carry incredible strengths, dreams, and potential, and sometimes they just need someone willing to see it and help create a pathway forward.
Bravely Connected Communities grew out of years of working in community and asking a different question. Instead of starting with, “What’s wrong here, and how do we fix it?” the organization began asking, “What’s already strong here, and how can we build on it?”
Today, Bravely Connected Communities creates spaces where people can belong, discover what’s in their hands, and turn their ideas and strengths into meaningful action. Through initiatives like Dream Academy, community markets, arts and wellness programs, and pathways into entrepreneurship and employment, the organization is working to build a neighbourhood where people aren’t simply recipients of programs, they become contributors, creators, leaders, and dreamers.
What Connie is most passionate about is human potential. She loves seeing the person who has been overlooked realize they have something valuable to offer, the neighbour who felt disconnected discover that they belong, or someone who has carried a dream quietly finally find the courage and community to try.
At the heart of everything she does is a desire to see communities transformed through connection, because she believes when people know they belong, recognize their strengths, and are given an opportunity to contribute, incredible things can happen.
