Adam Paul Davidson couldn’t stand sharing a cell with Brett Peter Cowan, a man sentenced to life in prison for abusing and murdering 13-year-old Daniel Morcombe in Australia in 2003. For a month, Davidson planned his revenge. One day, while Cowan was playing cards with his back turned, he threw boiling water directly onto his face, chest, back, and legs. Cowan’s skin peeled off completely, leaving raw flesh and severe burns. He was rushed to the hospital and took weeks to recover. When interrogated, Davidson confessed without remorse: “I didn’t want to kill him, I just wanted him to feel the pain that Daniel Morcombe felt.” He was sentenced to three more years in prison for the attack.
