Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week, held each year from 27 May to 3 June.

This morning, TRB staff and Board members were proud to attend the National Reconciliation Week Breakfast at the Adelaide Convention Centre, coming together with the community to reflect, learn and show our shared commitment to reconciliation.

This week encourages us to listen, learn and take meaningful steps towards a more inclusive and respectful future. Reconciliation is not for spectators, it calls on all Australians to be actively involved, recognising the work of past generations while building a stronger path forward for future generations.

This year’s theme, 𝘼𝙡𝙡 𝙄𝙣, reminds us that we each play a role in creating lasting change in our communities.

The Teachers Registration Board of South Australia is proud to present the 2026 Distinguished Teacher Service Awards (previously the TRB Service Award), recognising and celebrating outstanding teachers whose long and distinguished careers have made a significant and lasting contribution to the education of children and young people across our state.

These Awards honour registered teachers with twenty or more years of service who, through their professional commitment, expertise, leadership and care, have influenced learning outcomes, strengthened school communities, and shaped the lives and futures of generations of South Australian students.

Teaching is a profession built not only on knowledge and skill, but on dedication sustained over time - in classrooms, preschools, specialist settings, regional communities and leadership roles where teachers continue, year after year, to make a profound difference. The Distinguished Teacher Service Awards acknowledge those educators whose work exemplifies the values of the profession and whose contribution extends well beyond the ordinary expectations of service.

As the statutory authority responsible for regulating the teaching profession in South Australia, the Teachers Registration Board is committed to promoting public confidence in teaching, recognising excellence, and elevating the standing of teachers within the community. Through these Awards, the Board seeks to shine a light on those experienced practitioners whose integrity, influence and sustained contribution embody the very best of South Australian education.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 is an opportunity to formally acknowledge those teachers whose careers have been marked by enduring service, deep professional impact, and an unwavering commitment to children, young people, colleagues and the broader teaching profession.

Three awards are proposed:
• Early Childhood Distinguished Teacher Service Award
• Primary Distinguished Teacher Award
• Secondary Distinguished Teacher Award

Teachers may self nominate or be nominated by:
• another registered teacher who is currently working with the nominee or has done so within the past five years, or
• a community member

Completed nomination forms and all required documents must be submitted via email to: [email protected] no later than midnight on Sunday, 23 August 2026.

Successful award recipients will be invited to our Annual Awards Ceremony which will be held in the Banqueting Room, Adelaide Town Hall, on Wednesday, 23 Septembers 2026, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
