Filipino domestic helper Rhodora Alcaraz is hospitalized after bravely shielding a three-month-old infant from a fire at Wang F*k Court in Tai Po that lasted over 43 hours. Having arrived in Hong Kong just days before, Alcaraz prioritized the infant’s safety above her own.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) praised her selflessness on social media, and representatives from both OWWA and the Philippine Consulate General visited her to offer support. Philippine Senator Imee Marcos also traveled to Hong Kong to check on Alcaraz and other affected domestic workers. Authorities in the Philippines are extending support to Alcaraz’s family.

SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) is investigating allegations that companies are misusing passes that permit employers to hire foreign students and intra-corporate trainees for up to three months.
