The announcement of the Searah joint venture between Eni and Petronas is another positive signal for offshore activity in Southeast Asia.

The headlines will naturally focus on production targets, reserves and investment commitments. For those of us working closely with offshore projects, the longer-term implications for people and project delivery are equally important.

Developments of this size require a wide range of specialist personnel throughout the project lifecycle. Survey teams, ROV personnel, inspection specialists, geotechnical professionals, project support staff and offshore management teams all play a role in helping these projects move forward safely and efficiently.

Southeast Asia has always been an important region for the offshore industry, and continued investment provides confidence for contractors, service companies and project teams planning for the years ahead.

At Elevate Offshore, we work closely with clients and offshore professionals across the region every day. Announcements such as this reinforce the importance of building strong talent pipelines and maintaining access to experienced personnel who can support complex offshore operations when demand increases.

ROVs have changed the way offshore operations are carried out.

Many of the inspection, intervention, and maintenance tasks that once required divers can now be completed remotely, reducing exposure to high-risk environments and allowing work to continue in water depths and conditions that would otherwise present significant operational challenges.

As offshore activity continues across renewables, oil and gas, telecommunications, and subsea infrastructure projects, demand for experienced ROV personnel remains strong.

If you're an ROV Pilot Technician, Supervisor, Engineer, or part of a wider ROV team and are considering your next opportunity, we'd like to hear from you.

We’re particularly interested in Australian and New Zealand nationals, or those with full work rights in the region.

At Elevate Offshore, we focus on building the right teams. That starts with understanding people properly and being ready when projects move forward.

If you’re open to opportunities in Australia or New Zealand, send your application to [email protected] or get in touch with the team for a conversation.

One of the most expensive decisions on an offshore project can often look like a cost saving on paper.

When project budgets come under pressure, day rates naturally become part of the conversation. Every operator, contractor and project team is expected to manage costs carefully. However, focusing solely on the rate often overlooks the wider impact that personnel have on project delivery.

Experienced offshore professionals bring far more than technical competence. They arrive with an understanding of the environment, the equipment, the client expectations and the challenges that can arise offshore. They make informed decisions, communicate effectively with project teams and contribute to safe and efficient operations from the moment they step on board.

We regularly see projects where the right individual adds value through consistency, reliability and experience. Those qualities help reduce downtime, support productivity and give project teams confidence that work will be completed to the required standard.

By comparison, replacing personnel mid-project, dealing with performance issues or spending additional time managing avoidable problems can create costs that quickly outweigh any initial savings achieved through a lower day rate.

The reality is that every market has its own commercial pressures and budget constraints. Finding the right balance between cost control and securing quality personnel is where successful projects are often won.

At Elevate Offshore, we work closely with our clients to understand their operational requirements, project objectives and budget considerations. Our role is to provide honest market insight and connect businesses with experienced offshore professionals who can make a positive contribution from day one.

Sharing safety learnings is part of how we look after people, both offshore and onshore.

A recent IMCA (International Marine Contractors Association) Safety Flash highlights a man overboard situation caused by the failure of a moonpool railing system during offshore operations. Thankfully, the individual was recovered safely, but the incident is a reminder of how quickly routine tasks can become serious when equipment integrity is compromised.

Guardrails, barriers, access systems and routine inspections are there for a reason. When equipment is damaged, worn, or not properly secured, the consequences can escalate fast.

Incidents like this also reinforce the importance of speaking up. If something doesn’t look right, stopping the job and raising concerns should never be seen as a delay. Good offshore teams create a culture where people feel comfortable questioning, checking, and taking the time to make things safe.

At Elevate Offshore, we’ve always believed that good contractors deserve more than a phone call when a project comes in.

This industry runs on relationships, trust, and people who are willing to go where the work takes them. That’s why we stay close to our contractors throughout the journey, whether it’s discussing the next opportunity, sorting mobilisation, or simply checking in after a trip offshore.

A lot of our team have worked within the offshore sector themselves. We understand the realities of life offshore, the pressure that comes with projects, and the importance of having an agency that communicates properly and follows through.

Over the years, we’ve built a strong network of survey, ROV, inspection, and project personnel across renewables, oil & gas, telecoms, and power. Many of the contractors we work with have been with us for years, and that says a lot about the kind of relationships we want to build.

If you’re looking for your next offshore opportunity, we’d like to hear from you. Submit your CV to our team and let’s have a conversation about where you want your career to go: https://www.elevateoffshore.com/jobs/cv-upload/

And for the contractors already working with Elevate Offshore, we’d love to hear from you too. What’s been the best part of working with our team?

It was a pleasure for Elevate Offshore to continue supporting Get Kids into Survey, this time in Newquay, Cornwall, home to our UK base and a place where many of our staff and contractors live and actively contribute to the vibrant local coastal community.

Anthony Williams, Technical Manager, delivered the presentation at St Newlyn East Learning Academy to the school’s Year 5 and 6 classes, with around 60 pupils taking part. The session introduced geospatial surveying, with a particular focus on hydrographic survey, helping link classroom learning to real‑world marine and offshore careers.

The feedback from the school was fantastic, with Headteacher Rachel Hatch saying:

“It was brilliant, thank you. It really got the children thinking. I know it’s been mentioned in both classes since by the children and raised as real‑world context by the teachers.”

Inspiring curiosity and showing young people where STEM skills can take them is something we’re proud to support. A great example of industry and education working together locally.

Offshore hydrographic surveying is experiencing strong, steady global growth.

The market is expected to expand from $3.2B in 2024 to around $4.5B by 2030, with a CAGR of roughly 5.7%. Sentiment across the industry remains positive, with many professionals anticipating a tight 2026 with strong growth in 2027 and beyond.

This is being driven by continued activity across oil and gas, offshore wind, telecom cables, marine construction, and environmental projects. As operations move into deeper and more complex waters, the need for detailed seabed mapping and experienced subsea teams continues to increase.

When you look at what’s behind that demand, it becomes clear how broad the requirement is.

Deepwater energy projects depend heavily on survey work, ROV inspection, and subsea installation. Offshore wind brings its own requirements, with precise mapping, foundation design, and cable routing all relying on accurate data. At the same time, busy shipping lanes and port authorities need constant seabed updates to maintain safe navigation.

There is also a significant rise in subsea infrastructure. Power cables, fibre routes, and pipelines all require route surveys and trenching support. Alongside this, environmental standards are tightening, with more focus on habitat mapping and long-term monitoring.

Technology continues to improve what can be delivered, but skilled people remain at the centre of it all.

At Elevate Offshore, we work closely with clients and contractors to support this demand with the right experience in the right places.

Since establishing a presence in Australia, we’ve secured agreements with several key operators and have been supporting across survey, ROV, inspection and project teams. It’s been a steady build, working closely with clients and making sure delivery is right.

We’re now preparing for the next phase. Offshore construction and decommissioning activity is picking up, and with additional vessels expected into the region, the demand for experienced personnel is increasing.

We’re looking to connect with:

ROV Pilots
ROV Supervisors
Offshore Managers
Offshore Construction Managers
Riggers
Deck Foremen
Crane Operators

These roles are linked to upcoming scopes. Contracts are expected to run for several months, with the potential for ongoing work as programmes develop.
