The cast of Amazing Talents and team had their first on-site rehearsal at Sentosa yesterday. It was a long rehearsal in the gruelling heat and humidity from afternoon to the night. These young Amazing Talents showed resilience, professionalism and talent!

Melissa Hecker sang her good bye songs in her send off show two weeks ago. Natanya Tan, shot her final round of air rifle in her last national competition yesterday. Ranieh Chan performed her last act as a lead in her school ACJC’s sold out drama last night. All three will be leaving this month for further studies in the US and UK taking that step nearer to their dreams.
Then I have Natasha Vokes home for a holiday , who just graduated from Trinity Laban, UK in musical theatre.
All are my babies that I’ve seen grown up thru the years. .

I am so proud of them that at their age they are more than average, they are outstanding. i have been a part of their journey teaching them since they were really young. Natanya sang the National Day song in 2012 “ Love at first Light”. Ranieh acted and emcee-ed for ChildAid 2023. Melissa Hecker performed in numerous musicals and concerts, even sang with Dick Lee at his 60th birthday at Star Vista. Natasha has signed with an agent and will start work in West End soon. Their portfolio is amazing for their age.

I have mixed feelings, happy and excited that they are going onto their next phase but sad they are going and I won’t see them for a long while.
But that’s what teaching is about. Nurture them to their fullest potential and you just have to let them go find their place in this world.

I know many parents are very anxious this month as their children are leaving for their first semester overseas. I say to the parents: trust in your upbringing that your children will not do anything foolish and they will give their best. I say to the students: work hard but take care of your mental health and know that no matter what happens, you can always come home. We r here for you, always.

I’ve known Melissa Hecker since she was 9 and taught her till she’s 15 when she achieved her Lamda gr8 in musical theatre . Through our journey together, she has performed with Dick Lee, led a group of children in her item at the Indoor Stadium for HomeTeam 50th Anniversary, been umpteen times in ChildAid and starred in a couple of my musicals, Hairspray as Penny and Dear Evan Hansen as Zoe. Now she’s 19 and able to produce her own show and sang and engaged a full house of audience. Last Sunday we collaborated on her send-off concert with her very talented friends from SOTA who sang, played , and made audience laughed and sang along with much affection for the performers. Melissa has been my pride and joy in my teaching career and her vocal quality is one of the best I’ve heard. Her versatility in vocal genres is rare in Singapore as she can sing in classical, musical theatre and pop so proficiently.
Melissa is leaving for Ithaca College and I believe she’ll be successful in her pursuit of her dreams in musical theatres. Wishing her the very best to be the very best. My friends ask me often, why I still keep pushing on with teaching children the art of performing,
“There’s no money in the arts Kp!”, they say.
Well, nurturing children to sing, act n dance is definitely a passion, a calling even, for me. This year marks a milestone 20 years of running academies coaching children and the fire in my belly is still burning!
Especially after receiving a Teacher’s recognition from American Protège for the performamce of students like 9 year old Keisha D’Souza, received 1st Place for International Music competition American Protege. Keisha had the honor of performing in Carnegie Hall NYC earlier this month.
Keisha also has the privilege of performing for the official launch of the TEL line on 21/6, for GOH PM Mr Lawrence Wong. What an amazing feat to achieve at such a tender age!
I could not be prouder ❤️
This December 10 of my other students will perform at Carnegie Hall in NYC.
Traning a child to realise their full potential can b an arduous and long journey
But I am incredibly grateful to be chosen as their teacher and to know I made a difference in each of their lives.
Keep singing! Keep acting! And never stop to chase that dream 💪❤️ Congrats Keisha!! Thanks for doing us proud ! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
