Can't find traditional Indian bath powder?
Here's a simple flour mixture traditionally prepared in many Indian households.
Ingredients:
- 2 spoons besan flour
- 1 spoon rice flour
- 2 spoons green gram flour
Use the same spoon for all measurements.
Mix the dry ingredients, then gradually add clean water until you get a thin, watery paste.
This is a traditional preparation, not a necessary part of baby bathing. For babies, especially newborns or those with sensitive skin, plain water is generally the gentler option. Flour mixtures can irritate the skin, so avoid using them on broken or irritated skin and keep the mixture away from the eyes, nose and mouth.
Save the measurements for later.
