Yesterday, the immigration office initially denied his request to change his visa status from a short-stay visa (8 months) to an apprenticeship visa (Ausbildungsvisum). ❌📄

This the new legislation: important for pinoy truck drivers with Code70 +PH

**Section 28 of the German Driver’s License Ordinance (FeV)**, the amendment that entered into force on **18 August 2026** removed an important restriction. [1](https://www.buzer.de/gesetz/9545/al242493-0.htm)

# # # Previous version
Recognition of an EU/EEA driving licence in Germany did **not** apply if the licence:

- had been obtained through a **test-free exchange** of a driving licence from a third country that was not listed in Annex 11, or

The exclusion relating to a **test-free exchange of a third-country licence** has been removed. The only remaining exclusion in this provision concerns EU/EEA licences that were issued on the basis of a **forged third-country licence**. [1](https://www.buzer.de/gesetz/9545/al242493-0.htm)

# # # Practical impact
As a result, certain EU/EEA driving licences that originate from a lawful exchange of a third-country licence can now be recognized more easily in Germany.
