Today in the Planter Diaries - I may not be painting walls anytime soon but I am painting tiny legs, tiny leaves, and one very cinematic worm. They still have two firings to survive (fingers crossed) before they’re ready to strut. Give them a couple weeks - they’re not missing this planting season for anything!

Back in the studio after the last disaster! I needed to grieve the loss! And now I seem to be making long legged planted planters. Raw clay, lots of texture, and a whole lot of attitude. They’re still in their birthday suits - no glaze, unfired - but I’m dreaming up bright legs and bright interior colours. Lime, teal, orange hues, maybe all of them. Still debating if the legs get colour at all, or if I keep them natural and let the inside be loud. If you were in charge of their little outfits, what would you choose. Oh boy, you’d think I was new at this! Took me all week to finally get this piece painted. I carefully loaded the kiln and 10 minutes later, I heard it. My hands started shaking, my eyes were popping, my heart was pounding. Peeked inside and what I knew in my soul became reality. Swipe to see the carnage. Dolly (my kiln) keeps me humble. I am fully toasted. The sale was amazing, my heart is full, and my energy level - caput! This week is for recharging, cleaning, and pretending I’m going to reorganize my studio instead of napping. Case in point: I made a whole cup of tea this morning before realizing I never put a teabag in it. Just hot water and milk. Didn’t even notice. So…..orders are coming….. I promise. I’ll be back making muddy magic as soon as the creative spark crawls back into my body. Till then, cheers!

Im sitting here staring at my empty bins like - what just happened? I brought 112 pieces to the pottery sale and I’m heading home with 23. Sudbury, you showed UP. Huge love to the library for hosting us and to the staff who let us invade their space with boxes, bubble wrap, and questionable amounts clay pieces. Massive thanks to the guild crew who set-up, tore down, organized, wrangled tables, and kept the whole thing running. And an extra big shout-out to the strong team who carried the heavy stuff like it was nothing. Our fearless leader Diane deserves a medal for pulling off another fantastic event. And to this beautiful community - thank you for supporting local makers, for choosing handmade, and for opening your hearts (and wallets) to all of us. If you adopted one of my cheeky little pieces, you’ve filled my heart right up. I’m so grateful. Now I rest. Love you all! ❤️😍
