🌈 Celebrating Pride Month 🌈

This June, we recognise Pride Month — a time to celebrate the diversity, strength and contributions of LGBTQIA+ communities, and to reflect on the ongoing journey toward equality and inclusion.

Pride Month is about more than celebration. It’s about creating spaces where people feel safe, respected and supported to be their authentic selves.

It’s a chance for all of us to come together, learn, show support and celebrate the richness that diversity brings to our communities. 💜

🌿 National Reconciliation Week 🌿

This week, we proudly recognise National Reconciliation Week at ETC. A time to reflect, learn and come together in the spirit of reconciliation.

Held from 27 May to 3 June, National Reconciliation Week is an opportunity for all Australians to acknowledge our shared history and consider how we can each contribute to a more just and equitable future.

At ETC, we remain committed to working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, building strong relationships and supporting inclusive communities across the regions we serve.

This year’s theme, “All In”, reminds us that reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility. It’s about the conversations we have, the respect we show, and the actions we take every day.

Reconciliation is an ongoing journey — one of listening, learning and walking together.

We were proud to recently partner with Feros Care and Indigenous Innovation Ventures for a beautiful event at Tweed Minjungbal Aboriginal Cultural Centre in celebration of National Reconciliation Week, bringing people together for a day of connection, learning and community.

We were brought into the space through a Welcome to Country by Aunty Maureen, followed by powerful words that set the tone for a day grounded in respect, reflection and a shared understanding of this year’s ‘All In’ theme. In the spirit of this theme, attendees were invited to go all in - taking part in cultural activities including a guided cultural walk, Torres Strait weaving, and exploring local history and connection to Country. The day created space for genuine conversations, new connections, and a deeper appreciation of culture and community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to our incredible partners and community members who brought the event to life. Moments like these remind us that reconciliation is something we all have a role in, and that real progress happens when we come together, listen, and commit to walking forward together.

We recently delivered our third My Future Starts Here – Employment Summit, this time in the Wivenhoe region, and what a memorable day it was!

Despite the heavy rain, nothing could dampen the energy and commitment of our ETC customers, local employers, and guests. It was incredible to see everyone come together with a shared goal - supporting our customers to take confident next steps toward employment.

The day featured a packed agenda, including inspiring speaker sessions, an expert panel of local employers, one-on-one interview opportunities, and networking. To top it off, we had a hotdog stand, and barista-made coffee, proudly delivered by ETC’s Café Culture students. A huge thank you to Ipswich City Council for hosting us in such a fantastic venue.

What stands out most isn’t the scale of this Summit, but the meaningful connections, opportunities, and momentum it created.

Thank you to everyone who took part, we’re already looking forward to the next one. It might just be coming to your region 👀
