Meet Tallara Taylor, a proud Gumbaynggirr, Bundjalung and Yaegl woman who’s building a strong future for herself and her community through the Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES).
Tallara first connected with AES after finishing high school, looking for guidance and opportunities that aligned with her values. She soon joined the AES Youth Crew, a space for young Aboriginal leaders to share ideas and help shape better employment and training services across the region. From day one, Tallara stood out for her maturity, insight and commitment to lifting others up.
With growing confidence and support from AES, Tallara began her employment journey with a local Aboriginal out‑of‑home‑care organisation. What started as a casual role quickly became full‑time work — a reflection of her work ethic, reliability and natural ability to support others.
Now, Tallara is taking the next step by studying a Certificate IV in Youth Work, building the skills she needs to continue making a meaningful difference in her community.
Tallara’s journey shows what’s possible when young Aboriginal people are supported, encouraged and given opportunities to thrive. She represents the next generation of community‑minded leaders, and we’re proud to walk alongside her.
