Securing a reliable domestic supply of critical minerals is vital for Australia’s economic resilience against global disruptions.

Mining projects like Fingerboards in East Gippsland play a crucial role in unlocking these key resources—driving regional jobs, backing local investment, and securing materials essential for modern technology and defence.
What role do you see regional mining projects playing in Australia's long-term economic security?

“Everyone’s project is built on Country.”

With 20 years in mining, Blackpath Advisory founder Chris Christie has seen the industry continue to evolve.

At IMARC, he spoke about greater diversity across mining and the importance of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Traditional Owners to better understand the connection to Country.

One of the world’s highest carbon taxes. Almost no emissions reductions.

That’s the warning from new Menzies Research Centre analysis of proposals to scrap fuel tax credits.

The report finds that removing fuel tax credits would impose a cost equivalent to a $198-per-tonne carbon tax on industries that rely on diesel to operate.

As report author Jarryd Williamson warns, the change would “not stop anyone using diesel” and would “cut almost no emissions”.

For Australian mining, that means higher operating costs, less international competitiveness and more pressure on the regional businesses and communities that depend on the sector.

Australia needs practical solutions to reduce emissions, not punitive taxes on industries where viable alternatives are not yet available at scale.

The Greens want to make all Australians poorer as part of their crusade to wreck our national strengths.

They might dress it up as a Robin Hood move, but you don't make Australia richer by attacking the industries that make our nation strong.

Australian mining already pays more company tax than any other industry, plus billions in royalties.

But paying enough tax and royalties in a single year to cover the annual cost of Medicare is not enough for the greedy Greens.

Their latest thought bubble? Slug the industry that already contributes the most with another $28 billion in taxes while dividing our nation with class warfare and 'us vs them' attacks on regional industries.

Here’s the economics lesson the Greens missed:

Higher taxes make Australia less competitive. Less competitive industries attract less investment. Less investment means fewer projects, fewer jobs and less tax revenue to fund the services Australians rely on.

One job in mining supports jobs right across the Northern Territory economy.

New research shows the impact of mining reaches well beyond the mine gate.

For all: Action across all workplaces,

The final week of National Safe Work Month focuses on turning conversations about work health and safety into action.

After reflecting on why WHS matters, recognising risks and identifying the long-term impacts of work-related harm, workplaces are encouraged to look at what they can do beyond October.

Whether it’s improving processes, strengthening consultation, addressing risks or increasing support, action contributes to safer and healthier workplaces.

Every conversation about WHS has the potential to drive change. By turning positive discussions into action, we can create safer workplaces for everyone.

The next time you crack open a b**r, remember that this cold one started as a rock in the ground.

Australia is a bauxite powerhouse, producing up to 100.97 million tonnes of bauxite in 2025. That's a whole lot of b**r!

The future of Territory mining depends on building the skills and workforce to support it.

By strengthening education, training and career pathways, the minerals sector can help more Territorians access opportunities, build rewarding careers and contribute to their local communities.

Behind every mine is a community.

Australia's resources story is Australia's national narrative.

From the first coal exports and gold rushes to the mines that power our economy today, natural resources have helped shape our nation, our prosperity and our identity.

As this speech highlights, our resources have made us what we are today and remain central to Australia's national character.
