Cruise Job Tip of the Day

Don’t apply for every cruise ship vacancy you see.
Apply for roles that match your real work experience. A waiter should target restaurant and food & beverage roles; a receptionist can look at Guest Services; security experience should be matched to Security positions.

Recruiters are not only looking for people who “want to work on ships” — they want candidates who can show they already have the skills needed for that department.

SCAM MESSAGE EXAMPLE – PLEASE READ
This is an example of the type of cruise ship recruitment message you should be very careful about:

“ Welcome to CROWN PRINCESS. If truly interested kindly send your passport copy and CV/resume to Princesscruiserecruitmenta[at]gmail.com. Also chat with the recruiting Captain through WhatsApp to guide you on obtaining the visa…
RED FLAGS:

A generic Gmail address claiming to represent Princess Cruises.

Asking you to send a passport copy immediately.

Telling applicants to contact a “recruiting Captain” on WhatsApp I mean seriously since when does the Captain get involved in recruitment.

Offering to “guide” you in obtaining a visa.

No official job vacancy, job reference number, recruiter name or verifiable company contact details.

Pressure to move the conversation away from official recruitment channels.

Never send your passport, certificates or money just because someone contacts you on Facebook or WhatsApp. Verify the vacancy through the cruise line’s official careers website or an authorised recruitment partner first.
