Hello Dr JS Moroka, I’m Cynthia Mphahlele, model and your Youth Day voice today.

People see models and think “just pictures”. But today I stand here for more. 16 June 1976, youth marched for a future. They used books, not fists.

As a model, my job is to be seen. But my purpose is to make YOU be seen too. Seen in school. Seen in skills. Seen in opportunities.

To every young person here: Your outfit doesn’t define you. Your grades do. Your attitude does. Your dreams do.

Let’s honor 1976 by modeling the right behavior. Discipline. Respect. No abuse. No drugs.
