💡 From a Village in Limpopo to 50,000 Downloads: The NOVAR Story

Two childhood friends. One dream. And a second-hand computer bought for just R700.

Shibambu Mikhongelo Marvel (22) and Malunghelo Mathonsi (25) grew up in rural Gumbani, Limpopo—where internet is unstable and power cuts are frequent.

They began building their educational platform using a second-hand computer bought for just R700 and taught themselves how to code.

The result? NOVAR—a free e-learning app offering quantum computing, AI, business, medicine, and advanced maths to rural learners across Africa.

50,000 downloads in five months.

Then came the moment that almost ended it all. Rising costs, no revenue, and the dream hanging by a thread.

Until a local content creator shared their story. R80,000 raised in 24 hours. Over R193,000 in donations soon after.

Their why? "My dream is for all learners—including my daughter—no matter where they are, to have access to quality education."
