Speech Therapist — Fixed-Term (2 Months) | Bloemfontein

A leading South African physical rehabilitation hospital group is looking for a passionate, patient-centred Speech Therapist to join their interdisciplinary rehab team for August–September 2026.

You'll help patients regain communication and safe swallowing, restoring independence and quality of life through evidence-based rehabilitation.

What you'll do

Assess communication, swallowing, cognitive-linguistic and functional abilities, then build and run individualised therapy plans
Deliver communication and feeding interventions, prescribe AAC solutions, and train caregivers
Work alongside the interdisciplinary team, keep accurate records and billing, and support discharge planning

What you'll need

HPCSA registration in Independent Practice (Speech Therapist), with experience in physical rehab settings
Strong expertise across dysphagia, aphasia, cognitive and motor speech rehab, tracheostomy management, AAC and caregiver education
Ethical, accountable, adaptable, and a genuine team player

We're recruiting on behalf of a leading South African physical rehabilitation hospital group for a dedicated Speech Therapist to join their interdisciplinary team in Beacon Bay.

You'd be helping patients regain communication and safe swallowing — the work that gives people back their independence and their dignity. Evidence-based care, in a team that actually works as one.

Requirements:
· HPCSA registration — Independent Practice
· Mid-senior level

Salary: R27 000 CTC
Type: Permanent, half-day

Half-day roles at this level don't come up often, and Eastern Cape allied health posts come up even less. If you're in EL, or you've been meaning to get back to the coast, this is worth a conversation.

This is a hands-on clinical role focused on delivering evidence-based, patient-centred rehabilitation for neurological, cognitive, and spinal cord injury patients — both paediatric and adult.

Key duties:
✅ Assess functional needs & design individualised treatment plans
✅ Neurological, cognitive & spinal cord injury rehabilitation
✅ Paediatric & adult neurological rehab
✅ Wheelchair assessment, prescription & FCE

Requirements:
🔹 Bachelor's degree in OT + community service year completed
