When sending out your CV to apply for jobs ensuring that it gets read is key ! Each job ad gets 100’s of applications which can lead to a very tired, very grumpy recruiter who loves his/her delete button !!!
Therefore please remember:
- We do NOT need a long winded intro letter where you tell us how perfect you are for the job. If your CV is right you will be called in
- We must be able to OPEN your CV – Make it MS office friendly, do not have all sorts of security codes on it, and don’t minimise it.
- Choose a font that is clear and a decent size
– Calibri or Arial set at 10 or 11 is perfect
- Stick to black. Using colours may make the hard copy difficult to read so we may not read it.
- Use spacing correctly. Squashing all your information onto a page does not make for easy reading!!
- In some instances standing out because the document is different and creative is a good thing, however, this is not the case with your CV !!
Neat, precise and well set out is the only way to go when creating the perfect CV
