Recruitment Is About People, Not Just CV’s
Article by Charmaine Groener

Recruitment is often seen as matching a CV to a job description, but it is so much more than that. Behind every CV is a person. Someone who may be looking for a better opportunity, a fresh start, career growth, stability, or simply a workplace where their skills and experience will be valued. As recruiters, one of the most important qualities we can have is being a good listener.

Listening to a candidate means understanding what they are looking for, what motivates them, what their expectations are, and sometimes even hearing the concerns they may not feel comfortable putting on paper. A strong relationship between a recruiter and candidate is built on trust, honesty, respect, and communication.

Not every candidate will be successful in every position—and that is okay. Sometimes the right thing to do is to give honest feedback, explain why an opportunity may not be the right fit, and keep that candidate in mind for something more suitable in the future.

To every candidate currently looking for work:

Please do not give up. One unsuccessful application does not define your abilities or your future. Keep your CV updated. Keep applying. Keep learning. Keep believing in your experience and what you have to offer.

And remember, sometimes a "no" means "not this opportunity", rather than "not you." The right opportunity may still be ahead.

At the heart of good recruitment is a simple principle:

Listen to people. Understand people. Respect people. And do your best to help people find opportunities where they can succeed.

Because recruitment is not only about filling a vacancy—it is about connecting people with possibilities. ❤️
