Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Labour Relations Practitioner to lead and manage all labour relations and employee relations matters. The role requires deep expertise in disciplinary processes, CCMA cases, employment equity compliance, union consultations, and complex workplace investigations. This is a senior role requiring sound judgement, credibility, and strategic labour law expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and chair complex disciplinary hearings, appeals, and incapacity enquiries
Represent organisations at CCMA and Bargaining Council conciliations and arbitrations
Prepare and present full arbitration cases, including evidence, witnesses, and legal argument
Manage employment equity processes, including EE Committee consultations, reporting, and compliance
Lead section 189 and other statutory consultations, where applicable
Manage and lead engagements with trade unions and employee representatives
Conduct and oversee complex workplace investigations and provide risk-based recommendations
Advise executive management on labour law, employee relations strategy, and labour risk
Ensure compliance with the Labour Relations Act, EE, BCEA, and related legislation
Develop and implement labour relations policies, procedures, and training for management
Monitor labour relations trends and proactively mitigate organisational risk
Minimum Requirements
Degree in Labour Relations, Human Resources, Law, or Industrial Relations
5+ years’ experience in a senior labour relations or employee relations role
Extensive, proven experience handling CCMA conciliations and arbitrations
Expertise in Employment Equity compliance and reporting
Demonstrated experience in unionised environments and collective engagements
In-depth knowledge of South African labour legislation and case law
Excellent advocacy, negotiation, report-writing, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to operate independently and advise at executive level
Bilingual in Afrikaans and English
Advantageous
Postgraduate qualification in Labour Law or HR
Experience representing employers in high-risk or complex CCMA matters
Bargaining Council and Labour Court exposure
