Building the Future of Education: GTA at the KZN SEDP Demo Day 💡🇿🇦
As part of our commitment to institutional growth and community impact, Great Thinkers Academy successfully completed the 8-month KZN Social Economy Development Programme (KZN SEDP), convened by UKZN GSBL and EDTEA. 🎓✨
Represented by our Deputy Director & Programme Coordinator, Fezile Hlope, GTA navigated the multi-stakeholder Social Labs and pitched on Demo Day, emerging as a recognized "Champion" social enterprise. This milestone accelerates our transition into a hybrid model designed to scale sustainable, outcome-based educational support. 🛠️📚

What a year for Great Thinkers Academy Football Club!

Our 2026 honours list so far:

🏆 Richmond Junior Cup — U/13 Champions
🏆 SAPPI Juniors Tournament — U/13 Champions
🏆 Elite Heritage XI Tournament — U/17 Champions 🆕

3 trophies across 2 age groups. 👏⚽

Yonke inhlangano inomlando wayo. Wonke umlando unamagugu awo. Futhi amagugu asifundisa lokho esingakuthatha sikuyise phambili. 🌱

Namuhla, i-Great Thinkers Academy ithatha ithuba lokwabelana ngohlangothi lwayo lwendaba — indaba eyakhiwe ukubamba iqhaza, ukuqina, ulwazi, ukuqeqeshana, ukwenza kanye nentuthuko eqhubekayo.

🟡 2015 — UKUBAMBA IQHAZA
Izimpande zesiko le-Academy zingalandelwa emuva esimweni lapho ukubamba iqhaza kwabafundi, ukuziphendulela, impikiswano kanye nokusebenzisana kwakubalulekile.

🔵 2020 — UKUQINA
Isikhathi sokuvalwa kwezwe savivinya indlela ukufunda nokuzibandakanya okungaqhubeka ngayo lapho izindawo ezejwayelekile ziphazamisekile. Kwaba yisikhathi esagcizelela ukubaluleka kokuzivumelanisa nezimo kanye nokuqina kwezemfundo.

⚪ 2023 — UKWEHLUKANISA ULWAZI 🧠
Kwafika isikhathi lapho ukuqonda ulwazi kwaqala khona ukwanda.

Ukufunda kwakungeke kugcine ngokuba ngaphakathi komkhakha owodwa, esikhungweni esisodwa noma endleleni eyodwa yokwazi. Okuhlangenwe nakho, imibono, imiphakathi kanye nezindlela ezahlukene zolwazi kwaba yingxenye yohambo lokufunda.

🟡 2024 — UKUQEQESHA NOKUTHUTHUKISA 🤝
Ukugxila kwaqhubeka ekuthuthukiseni abantu.

Ulwazi lwaba yinto okufanele kwabelwane ngayo. Ukuqeqeshana kwaba yingxenye yesiko. Ukuthuthuka komuntu kwaba yingxenye ebalulekile yokuvulela abanye amathuba okukhula.

🔵 2025 — UNYAKA WOKWENZA ⚡
Imibono kufanele ekugcineni ibonakale kulokho esikwenzayo.

UNyaka Wokwenza waba yisinyathelo esisuka ekucabangeni nasekuthuthukiseni siye ekusebenziseni nasekwenzeni.

⚪ 2026 — UKUFIKA EZINGENI EZIPHEZULU 🚀
Namuhla, i-Great Thinkers Academy iyaqhubeka nokwakha ingqikithi yayo lapho kuhlangana khona ezemfundo, amagugu kanye nentuthuko yasendaweni.

Ukubamba kwethu iqhaza kwiKwaZulu-Natal Social Economy Development Programme kuyingxenye yalolu hambo — kuhlanganisa amagugu esikhungo nentuthuko yabantu abahola intuthuko emiphakathini yabo.

🇿🇦 HERITAGE DAY | OUR SIDE OF THE STORY
🟡 🔵 ⚪ Great Thinkers Academy

Every institution has a story. Every story has a heritage. And every heritage carries lessons for the future. 🌱

Today, Great Thinkers Academy takes a moment to tell its side of the story — a story shaped by participation, resilience, knowledge, mentorship, action and continued development.

🟡 2015 — PARTICIPATION
The roots of the Academy's culture can be traced to an environment where student participation, accountability, debate and collective engagement were taken seriously.

🔵 2020 — RESILIENCE
The lockdown period tested how learning and engagement could continue when conventional spaces were disrupted. It became a defining period for adaptability and resilience in education.

⚪ 2023 — KNOWLEDGE DIVERSIFICATION 🧠
There came a point where the understanding of knowledge itself began to expand.

Learning could not be confined to one discipline, one institution or one way of knowing. Different experiences, perspectives, communities and forms of knowledge became part of the learning journey.

🟡 2024 — MENTORSHIP & DEVELOPMENT 🤝
The emphasis increasingly moved towards developing people.

Knowledge became something to share. Mentorship became part of the culture. Personal development became an important part of creating opportunities for others to grow.

🔵 2025 — YEAR OF ACTION ⚡
Ideas must eventually find expression in what people do.

The Year of Action represented a movement from reflection and development towards implementation.

⚪ 2026 — REACHING GREATER HEIGHTS 🚀
Today, Great Thinkers Academy continues to develop its identity at the intersection of education, heritage and local development.

Our participation in the KwaZulu-Natal Social Economy Development Programme forms part of this continuing journey — connecting institutional heritage with the development of local champions and the communities in which they operate.
