❤️!The Inspiration Behind Sondela
When we got into the studio together, I kept thinking about how love can make you feel both safe and completely exposed at the same time. I wrote my parts with that feeling in mind. Working with Honey Tee, masande, and Nadinar made it even stronger because each of us brings a different side of love to the table. I wanted our voices to sit together like a conversation between friends who are all trying to figure out love in their own way.
For me, this song is about choosing to be close even when it’s easier to pull away. I’ve been in moments where pride and fear got in the way, and I said the wrong thing or didn’t say anything at all. Writing this track was my way of saying I’m done with that. The line “Sondela” kept coming back to me because it’s simple and direct—come closer. No games, no hiding. That’s what I wanted the song to feel like from the first verse to the last chorus.
In the booth, it got real fast. I closed my eyes and sang like I was talking to one person, not a whole room. That’s how I knew we had it right. I wasn’t thinking about making it sound perfect. I was thinking about making it sound true. When you hear me on the track, that’s me letting go of the guard I usually keep up and saying what I actually feel.
I wrote this song because I believe love is worth that kind of honesty. My hope is that when people listen , it reminds them of someone they care about. Maybe it gives them the push to reach out, to forgive, or to just sit closer than they have in a while. For me, this isn’t just a feature—it’s a piece of my heart, and I’m sharing it with all of you.
