Diesel Mechanic – Underground TMM
Location: Barberton, Mpumalanga

Position Overview:
Our client, a well-established underground mining operation in the Barberton area, is looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic with strong Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) experience to join their maintenance team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, fault-finding, servicing and repairing underground TMM equipment while ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with OEM and mine standards.

Minimum Requirements:
• Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a TMM environment.
• At least 3 years’ underground mining experience.
• Proven maintenance experience on underground Trackless Mobile Machinery.
• Experience working on equipment such as:
o Drill Rigs
o Dump Trucks
o LHDs
• Experience on TMM brands such as AARD, Fermel, GHH, Atlas, GMG, Sandvik or Bird Machines will be advantageous.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic circuits.
• Good understanding of automotive and diesel mechanical systems.
• Ability to prioritise breakdowns, maintenance tasks and operational requirements.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
• Meet the medical fitness requirements applicable under the Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996.
• Undergo job-related assessments where required.
• Successfully complete criminal and reference checks.
• Provide certified copies of relevant qualifications and supporting documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform planned, preventative and corrective maintenance on underground TMM equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and related equipment faults and carry out repairs efficiently.
• Ensure repairs and maintenance are completed in accordance with OEM specifications and workshop standards.
• Conduct inspections, servicing and lubrication as required.
• Complete planned maintenance activities according to the maintenance schedule.
• Test equipment following repairs and ensure machinery is safe and operational before being returned to service.
• Accurately complete job cards, service sheets, handover reports and maintenance documentation.
• Maintain accurate machine history records.
• Apply lock-out and isolation procedures at all times.
• Identify, report and control hazards and risks timeously.
• Maintain full compliance with the Mine Health & Safety Act, Codes of Practice, SOPs and company SHE requirements.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and workshop discipline.
• Contribute to the safe and reliable operation of mining equipment.

• Work closely with Debtors, Creditors, Wages and Workshop departments.
• Take full responsibility for the HSEC system for one of the company’s clients.
• Add and remove drivers from the HSEC system as required.
• Maintain driver medical and induction records on the system.
• Ensure all drivers’ medicals and inductions for the various mines are kept up to date on a daily basis.
• Provide general administration and follow-up where required.
