MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
2 - 4 years’ experience in a similar role in a SMT Department
Matric and /or a suitable qualification coupled with skills to perform required programming job
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Component Values
• Identify resistors, capacitors, transistors, sizes, and polarized components
• Read and understand part numbers and descriptions
• Sort components correctly and handle polarity-sensitive parts
• Count completed boards/cards and reconcile with pick-slip before transfer
Feeder Setup
• Load components onto the correct feeders and set pitch accurately
• Assemble stick feeders and teach pickup positions
Screen Print Setup
• Start machine, load program, and secure screen and PCB
• Align screen and PCB, set height, and configure alignment points
• Clean screens after each shift
Machine Setup
• Load correct programs and locate component positions
• Change feeder positions and set support pins
• Switch between reel and tube feeding and teach pickup positions
• Skip components/boards and troubleshoot first-off assemblies
Machine Operation
• Perform machine and feeder setup safely
• Adjust component placement and resume interrupted jobs
• Resolve machine errors or communicate issues to technicians
• Maintain efficient operation with minimal component waste
Oven Setup
• Perform startup, profile loading, cooldown, and shutdown procedures
• Adjust conveyor width and set CBS
Machine Programming
• Modify programs and optimize assembly performance
QC Inspection
• Identify solder defects, polarity issues, and component markings
• Repair faults using correct tools without damaging assemblies
• Solder and de-solder fine-pitch and under-device components
Kit Preparation
• Read and understand part numbers and descriptions
• Calculate quantities and manage shortages
• Understand BOMs, tolerances, and picking controls
• Return components to correct storage locations
Hand Soldering & Rework
• Repair open circuits, shorts, tombstones, and component faults
• Rework chip components, transistors, and solder joints
• Remove and replace SOIC, QFP, BGA, and other multi-leaded devices to IPC standards
