Lately I find it difficult to be emotionally available. Even returning a call or text from the friends and people I genuinely care about feels like a drag. For a while I wondered whether it was just fatigue or my health challenges or my limping finances or the usual pressures of life.

After sitting and stewing over it earnestly and honestly, I am seeing it more clearly. The exhaustion is not from doing too much nor is it from the health challenges.

It is from giving too much of myself for too long in spaces where there was far too little nourishment in return. Something in me is simply tired. Not bitter or resentful. Just tired.

So these days I am learning to redirect that excess giving inward. Iā€™m selfish and guarded. I prefer being alone with my thoughts. The little energy I have is reserved for entertaining work related engagements as I need to earn a living.

So, If I seem a little distant, please understand, I am at a fuel station busy with refueling and restoration.

I have poured generously for decades. Now I am learning to replenish just as generously.

Hoping to be fully present again, only once the well has been properly refilled.
