JOB TITLE
Business Development Manager – Roads, Highways & Stormwater
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To drive the sales strategy and growth for the Transportation Sector within the Kwa-Zulu Natal region
LOCATION – Umhlanga, KwaZulu Natal
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
Essential – Qualification in Civil Engineering
Advantageous – Qualification in Business Management or an MBA
KPA’S OR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish and maintain productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts
Coordinate the involvement of company personnel, including support, service, and management resources, in order to meet account performance objectives and customers’ expectations
Meet assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned accounts
Understanding of the transportation industry and be acquainted/ familiar with distributors
Remain knowledgeable and up-to-date on changes and developments in the transportation industry
Maintain superior knowledge of competitor trends
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop an overall territory account plan to maximize opportunities and generate sales activity with customers and partners
Identify revenue growth opportunities through customer engagement - communication, driving marketing campaigns and industry activities and demonstrating the full suite of services to existing clients for upgrade opportunities and to prospective clients to close new business
Identify revenue opportunities through customer engagement and communication, marketing programs and industry activities
Identify appropriate customer contacts, qualify and drive leads through the sales pipeline
Complete and maintain accurate sales forecasts
Conduct ongoing customer needs analysis, research of customer requirements
Participate in management meetings and take responsibility for sales improvement initiatives
Develop an entire organogram of key decision makers within each of the client businesses from front office, procurement, through to corporate and board
Must develop a sound understanding of the capex and opex of the client businesses as well as client business strategies – short, medium and long term
Must also identify key projects to be pre-positioned with the client well ahead of these coming out to tender
Must also coordinate thought leadership workshops with the clients on a monthly basis
EXPERIENCE
At least 5 - 10 years’ experience in Strategic Account Executive
Experience in Public Sector
Experience in the transportation industry
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Thorough knowledge of the transportation industry
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Strong listening and presentation skills
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
Knowledge of Public Sector and understanding local and national Government organisations
Knowledge of Municipalities and State owned entities
