R&A Strategic Communications R&A is a multi-faceted communications consultancy offering a full range of communications Community guidelines

We want to be share and learn and grow.

Over the past 21 years, R&A has grown into a leading southern African communications agency, with more than 50 clients – big and small, listed and unlisted. We assist clients in navigating complex media and investor relations issues, in building and preserving their corporate reputations, always guided by a strong ethical base. We offer an integrated communications approach, implemented strategically. We work with our clients to establish their communication strategy and plans, and the messages, channels and skills that are required to thrive in a global marketplace, and a local environment. Centrally located in northern Johannesburg, South Africa, R&A has a network of contacts in New York, London, Sydney and Perth and is able to provide access to international expertise and a global audience. While R&A and its principals have experience of working all over the world, we are firmly rooted in South Africa. Following the conclusion of a black economic empowerment (BEE) transaction in 2017, R&A has a 26% black shareholding. We are proud of our South African heritage and determined to contribute to the transformation of the industry and country, including as a whole through the inclusion of historically disadvantaged people in the business. We believe we can make a difference – through our procurement practices, recruitment and development policies, and regular internships. We would love our friends to post interesting articles, photos, and questions or comments

But, please play nicely! Please don’t post anything that is abusive, defamatory or divisive. Please don’t post requests for jobs or internships, or offer services. That’s what the [email protected] email address is for. And, if you have a gripe, please feel free to contact Charmane, Kisten or Peter – all on [email protected].

R&A Strategic Communications celebrates Heritage Day under the theme: Celebrating Our Living Heritage: Strengthening the Ties That Bind Us.

This year’s commemoration marks 31 years since Heritage Day was first celebrated in post-apartheid South Africa.

Today, we celebrate our nations rich cultural heritage by acknowledging the strength in a diverse workplace and remember Nelson Mandela’s words: "Our rich and varied cultural heritage has a profound power to help build our nation."

We at R&A are deeply saddened by the passing of our colleague and friend, Gerrit Prinsloo.

Gerrit was an R&A stalwart. A consummate professional for whom no request was ever too much. He approached every task with dedication, integrity and quiet determination, always willing to go the extra mile to support colleagues and clients alike.

His giant bear hugs, infectious sense of humour, bashful playfulness and, yes, his occasional obstinance, will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we reflected on Gerrit today, one thought rose above all others: he was kind. Kind in the way he treated people. Kind in the way he gave of his time. Kind in the way he showed up, day after day, for those around him. That surely is a great tribute.

Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones.

Rest in peace, Gerrit.

Thank you for the laughter, the friendship and the kind support you offered too those around you. You leave behind a legacy far greater than your work alone.

Some stories carry a responsibility that extends far beyond communication.

It is always a privilege for R&A Strategic Communications to support Sibanye-Stillwater's annual Marikana Commemoration Lecture.

Now in its seventh year, the lecture forms part of Sibanye-Stillwater's ongoing commitment to honouring the 44 people who lost their lives in August 2012 and to advancing the three pillars of the Marikana Renewal Programme: honour, engage and create.

This year's lecture featured Dr Thabo Makgoba, Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town and patron of the Marikana Renewal Programme, alongside guest speaker Nolitha Fakude, Chair of Anglo American South Africa, and Sibanye-Stillwater CEO Richard Stewart.

We are grateful for the opportunity to support this important work behind the scenes, developing communications materials, creating videos and through media relations, helping ensure these important conversations reach broader audiences.

Congratulations to the Sibanye-Stillwater team for creating a meaningful platform for remembrance, reflection and dialogue, and for their continued commitment to building a shared future with families and communities.

R&A was honoured to organise and attend the launch of Love for No Reason, on 8 August 2026, as Home of Hope for Girls celebrated its 25th anniversary alongside supporters, partners and friends.

The book tells the story of Khanyisile "Mam'Khanyi" Motsa, who founded Home of Hope in 2000. The Johannesburg non-profit has spent 25 years helping vulnerable girls heal, learn and rebuild their futures after experiencing abuse, neglect and exploitation.

If you would like to support Home of Hope, consider joining the Home of Hope Circle, helping to bring hope, care and practical support to girls rebuilding their lives through a monthly contribution of R67 or more. https://www.homeofhopeforgirls.org.za/how-you-can-help/donate

You can also purchase a copy of Love for No Reason, with all proceeds supporting the ongoing work of Home of Hope. https://www.homeofhopeforgirls.org.za/love-for-no-reason
