From the kitchen to discovering the French way of life, Ashton is spending 6 months gaining hands-on hospitality experience at Casino Circus Vals-les-Bains in France as part of her studies at The International Hotel School in Pretoria. 👩🏽‍🍳✨

Between creating dishes, learning from a new hospitality environment, exploring new places and making memories along the way, this is what an international internship looks like. 🥐🍷✨

Six months. A new country. A new culture. And an experience she’ll carry with her long after she returns home. ❤️

✨ Ashton’s experience in France 🇫🇷❤️

“So far, working in Vals-les-Bains has been the ultimate experience.”

For Ashton, his internship at Circus Bistro Vals-les-Bains has been so much more than a professional experience. It has been about meeting incredible people, learning, adapting and creating memories that will last a lifetime. 🫶

Despite not speaking much French when he arrived, the whole team made the effort to help him understand, learn and feel part of the kitchen. From learning ingredients and French instructions to dancing and singing with the chefs during service, every day has been filled with challenges, laughter and unforgettable moments. 👨‍🍳🇫🇷

And his favourite part? The amazing team who made him feel at home and turned everyday moments into memories he will always carry with him. ❤️

🇫🇷✨ Kelebogile’s six-month internship journey in France!

From South Africa to Obernai, France 🇿🇦🇫🇷

Kelebogile Maimane a student at International Hotel School (Official), completed a six-month hospitality internship in France through InternAfrika.

Here’s what she has to say about her experience:

“My six-month internship in Obernai, France, was a valuable and unforgettable experience that helped me grow both personally and professionally.

Through InternAfrika, I was able to travel to France safely and receive support throughout my journey. During my internship, I gained international hospitality experience, developed my culinary skills, and learned to work in a different cultural and professional environment.

Living and working in France also allowed me to become more independent, meet new people, and experience French culture.

Overall, the experience strengthened my confidence, expanded my knowledge and prepared me for future opportunities in the hospitality industry.”

✨ MIA’S SUCCESS STORY 🇿🇦🇫🇷🇺🇸

mia wicomb - Winner of Showcook 2025 🏆

After her win, Mia had the opportunity through InternAfrika to complete a 3-month culinary internship in Obernai, France, starting in January 2026, where she worked in the kitchen at Yona Hotel & Spa under Chef Cyril Bonnard. 👩‍🍳🇫🇷

Today, her journey continues in the USA, where she is gaining new culinary experience in Massachusetts.

Here’s what Mia had to say about her experience:

“In January 2026 I had the privilege of going to live and work in Obernai, France for 3 months thanks to InternAfrika and Showcook.

I lived in the quaint, idyllic town Obernai and had the privilege to work at Yona Hotel and Spa under Chef Cyril Bonnard.

I will never forget those 3 months. I learnt so much about myself, the ways of life from others around the world and significantly improved my culinary skills along the way.

I am eternally grateful for the opportunity, generosity and help given to me by InternAfrika and Showcook. I would have never thought this would have been possible at 20 years old, but I am so thankful it did.”

❤️ We are incredibly proud of Mia and everything she has achieved so far. This is exactly what Showcook is all about: creating opportunities and opening doors for the next generation of young chefs.

Nos étudiants MBway terminent la semaine en beauté avec un cours de cuisine dans la bonne humeur ! 👩‍🍳🥘

Un peu de cuisine, beaucoup de rires… et surtout une belle occasion de pratiquer son anglais tout en cuisinant et en partageant un bon repas. 😄🇬🇧

Parce qu’au final, quoi de mieux pour apprendre l’anglais que de le pratiquer… une bouchée à la fois ! 😉

Nos étudiants MBway ont eu la chance de rencontrer Sophie et Lida, les fondatrices de SOLI, une marque sud-africaine qui valorise le savoir-faire local et les matériaux naturels issus de sources durables. 🇿🇦🌿

Au programme de cette rencontre :

🚀 Ne pas se limiter dans ses ambitions
👩‍💼 Entreprendre en tant que femme
