Grade C is one of the most common starting points for people entering the private security industry.

With Grade C, you may find opportunities in areas such as access control, guarding residential estates, retail security, office buildings, warehouses and other static guarding roles.

But having the grade alone does not guarantee a job.

Employers may also look at your experience, communication skills, reliability, location and any extra training you have completed.

How Much Does a Security Guard Really Earn in South Africa?
Salary is one of the first things people want to know when looking for security work, but the answer is not always simple.

What you earn can depend on your PSIRA grade, experience, location, the type of site you work at, your shifts, and the company you work for.

Someone working at a residential estate may not earn the same as someone doing armed response, control room work or supervision.

Sometimes the highest salary is not always the best option.

You might earn more at a job that is far away, but then you’re spending more on transport and losing hours every day just getting to work and back.
