JOB PURPOSE
To ensure the unit performs efficiently and effectively and produces the marketing requirements at lowest possible cost and at highest possible quality standards in a safe working environment.
The planning and co-ordinating the whole Production Team, monitoring achievement against Production Plan, Production Efficiency, Operating Efficiency, Overall Equipment Efficiency, Direct Labour cost and Production Budget monitoring and reporting.
Responsible for the overall management and supervision of our production and packing units, areas of responsibility will include: planning and control of output, stock control, and management of performance against IPA’s and the establishment of effective production systems.
Reporting to the Operations Managers, the Unit Manager will be a key member of the senior management team, will be expected to continuously improve and develop your area and people, in terms of cost, quality, delivery, health, safety, housekeeping and the environment with a view to obtaining BRC accreditation.
JOB DIMENSION
Ensure all facets of the Production Operation are adhered to, in line with the applicable SOP’s or FFP requirements through effective communication
Identify Production Operation related problems and opportunities.
To ensure that standards and systems are maintained and exceeded through adherence to company policies and procedures. (SOP’s and Sea Harvest Policies and Procedures)
Identify and address areas for continuous improvement. Implement and maintain systems and practices necessary for an effective, innovative, safe and continuous learning (including dealing with lessons learned for all site related activities) culture among staff, contractors and suppliers.
Stay abreast of, evaluate and implement appropriate modern world-class manufacturing thinking and techniques to ensure efficient and effective operations.
Responsibilities:
Production:
• Monitor and manage Budget costs.
• Maintain and manage the usage of materials, equipment and machinery in relation with cost.
• Effective Production Planning.
Quality:
• Maintain Quality practices and manage problems.
• Maintain high quality products.
• Ensure Hygiene and Housekeeping is in line with HACCP and European Union standards.
Personnel Management:
• Oversee employee relations.
• Mentor Management development or manage poor performance.
Health and Safety:
• Ensure Food Safety Practices are adhered to.
• Ensure adherence to Health and Safety policy and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
• Matric Certificate
• 2 Years Managerial experience working in departments similar to FFP
• Minimum qualification: Production and Inventory Management diploma or certificate
• At least 3-5 years Production experience
• Previous experience of the seafood and wet fish sector.
• Knowledge of filleting and processing wet fish.
• Experience in production planning and product costing.
• Trained in Food Hygiene, HACCP and Food Accreditation (BRC or EFSIS).
