ASSISTANT GENERAL HOTEL MANAGER – 5 STAR LUXURY BOUTIQUE HOTEL – PLETTENBERGBAY

An exciting opportunity awaits a charismatic and dynamic hospitality professional with solid 5 Star Luxury Boutique Hotel experience, a passion for guest experience excellence, meticulous operational standards, and the ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams.

Requirements:

• Diploma / Degree in Hospitality Management (or related field) – Essential
• 8 – 10 years’ experience in luxury 5 Star Hotel, 3 years at a senior management level.
• Working knowledge of all key revenue generating departments within the hotel environment (Rooms and F&B)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent numeracy skills with financial acumen
• High level of English proficiency, 2nd language preferable
• Must be motivated, enthusiastic, energetic with a positive attitude
• Proven ability to lead a team of 50+ staff
• Proficient in Hotel Operating Systems (Opera, Micros, etc)
• Highly proficient in reporting skills – able to translate information easily
• Must be able to work shifts
• Own transport

Salary: R43,000 DOE, plus company benefits

We are searching for a highly skilled, dedicated and energetic SENIOR PASTRY CHEF DE PARTIE for our 5 Star Luxury Boutique Hotel to manage the Pastry station, producing high quality desserts, pastries, cake and breads, whilst supervising the junior pastry staff.

Requirements:
• Professional Culinary Qualification/Diploma.
• 3–5+ years in a luxury hotel or fine-dining establishment.
• Advanced pastry knowledge (breads, desserts, tempering, sugar work), plating excellence, and menu development.
• Experience leading a team, training commis chefs, and working as a senior team member.
• Strong understanding of HACCP/food safety, inventory management, and cost control.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Creativity.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for inventory and menu planning.
• Willing and able to work shifts.
• Cape Town resident.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee all pastry station operations, including mise en place and service, to ensure high-quality, consistent output.
• Prepare, bake, and present a variety of pastries, cakes, desserts, and breads according to established recipes.
• Stock take and Inventory management for the pastry section, and minimize wastage.
• Upholding hygiene, health and safety policies and standards.
• Collaborate with the Executive Pastry Chef to create new, innovative desserts and seasonal menus.
