What does your internship fee cover?

What am I paying for? These two questions are often asked by prospective students wanting to enrol in an internship abroad.

Well, at XChangeSA, we not only find you a suitable internship, but we also find your accommodation in one of our student houses or apartments; assist you with your visa application; pick you up from the airport on the day of arrival, do a full orientation, and take you to your company on your first working day.
When we do the orientation, we take our students shopping for food and provide them with a local SIM card for their mobile phones.

We also have a weekly newsletter and organise weekend outings with all the other students.
So, if you want a good quality and peace of mind to find the perfect internship for you, then look no further than XChangeSA. We are so much more than just an internship.

What is an Internship?

The biggest misconception is that people think an internship is a job application. It’s not.

During an internship, students have the opportunity to gain meaningful, practical experience related to their field of study or career interests. Internships provide students with opportunities to explore and develop their careers, as well as to learn new skills.

Many students believe that internships are about exploring their surroundings, but this is not true. An internship is primarily about a learning experience and meeting your course/university requirements. Exploring your surroundings isn't the main focus, but rather a bonus. That's something students tend to forget.

Internships also provide you with the opportunity to practice your English as an international student.

World Environment Day 2026

A Global Call for Climate Action

The planet doesn’t argue. It doesn’t negotiate. It sends signals—rising seas, raging wildfires, heatwaves, melting glaciers.

We said 1.5°C was the limit. We are crossing it.

For decades, the world has heard the climate story—warnings, targets, distant deadlines. Too often, the response has been clouded by noise: delay, distraction, denial.

But listen closer now. Beneath the noise, another signal is rising. Solar panels stretch across rooftops. Wind turbines line the horizon. Cities are being redesigned for people. Forests are being replanted. Climate solutions are taking root in every corner of the planet.

2026 focuses on climate change—on the urgent signals the Earth is sending and the signals we choose to send back. UNEP’s global campaign calls on all of us to step
in , and steer a world already in motion.

Safety Tips for Foreign Students in Cape Town

Moving to a new country for studies is an exciting adventure! While Cape Town is a beautiful and vibrant city, it’s important to stay aware of your surroundings. Here are some key safety tips for international students:

Stay Alert in Public – Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying expensive items like phones and laptops in busy areas.
Use Safe Transport – Stick to registered taxis or ride-hailing apps like Uber, especially at night. Avoid walking alone in unfamiliar areas.

• Secure Your Accommodation – Lock doors and windows when leaving and always double-check security measures in shared housing.

• Be Cautious with Money – Avoid carrying large amounts of cash. Use ATMs in safe locations, preferably inside malls or banks.

• Know Your Emergency Contacts – Save local emergency numbers, including the nearest embassy, and police (Dial 10111 in SA).

• Stay in Groups – Whether heading out for social events or exploring the city, it’s safer to be with friends.

• Keep Your Phone Charged – Always have enough battery life and data to call for help or use navigation apps.

• Health & Well-being – Have medical insurance, know the nearest hospital, and be mindful of food and water hygiene.

• Blend In & Respect Local Culture – Understanding the local culture and customs helps you avoid unwanted attention.

Cape Town is an incredible place to study and explore! Stay smart, be safe, and make the most of your experience.

World No To***co Day 2026

This yearly celebration informs the public on the dangers of using to***co, the business practices of to***co companies, what the WHO is doing to fight the to***co epidemic, and what people around the world can do to claim their right to health and healthy living and to protect future generations.

The Member States of the World Health Organization created World No To***co Day in 1987 to draw global attention to the to***co epidemic and the preventable death and disease it causes. In 1987, the World Health Assembly passed Resolution WHA40.38, calling for 7 April 1988 to be a "World No-Smoking Day." In 1988, Resolution WHA42.19 was passed, calling for the celebration of World No To***co Day every year on 31 May.
