Occupy Higher Education calls for total shut down of Universities in SA : Att : To Media Houses 24-10-2015 Receive our revolutionary greetings. Occupy Higher Education movement accept the 0% fees increment by President Jacob Zuma, however we reject the operational of Universities in the entire South Africa until all students are satisfied under a common solution. We view the response by the President as a temporary solution aimed twerking on a black child and there is nothing to celebrate on 0% fees response. 30 000 students from all corners of South Africa, including our parents cannot gather in Union building for temporary solution which doesn't even accomodate the academical problems of all South African students. Poor students are still owing Universities money due to technical fault of NSFAS, our students are still indebted by their Universities, some of our students completed their qualifications but cannot graduate because they are owing Universities, due to NSFAS many students are owing Universities more than R50 000 and cannot able to register next year . We cannot celebrate when students of Wits, UJ, UCT, Univen, Rhodes, TUT and all other Universities are still paying R70 000 a year, what is it to celebrate there as poor students under a developing country? Students in private colleges are paying R20 000 a year for a certificate which is not entirely recognised and the President said nothing about scrapping of private colleges. It is very much shocking that the President is now talking of establishing a Task Team as if there was no Minister of Higher education or Deputy Minister appointed in the department of Higher Of Education. How do you establish a task team where there is a Minister, Deputy Minister and DR including Council members? What was Blade Nzimande doing? The salaries of Vice Chancellor's and Registers in Universities are way abnormal, hence they can't hold themselves but bragging about changing cars while students are suffering. It is very contradictory to say there is no money to maintain free education while an illiterate SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoaneng is taking home R223 000 monthly without a matric certificate. The daughter of ANC Secretary General is a multi millionaire owning a very big constructive company. The Sons and Daughters of ANC President are multi millionaires. How is it difficult to deliver the children of Bartender, Garden worker since we are all equal . Comrades, Students leaders and all Students activists will be meeting tomorrow at Church square in Pretoria at 2 o'clock for a Caucus and short briefing mapping the way forward. Free Education is not a dream and we are going to attain it by force or by fire. Shut down continues. Tell no lies in a revolution. Issued By.
