AutoCAD is computer-aided design software created by Autodesk for creating two-dimensional drawings and three-dimensional models.

It produces illustrations ranging from concept plans to cinematic-quality animations, which production staff, managers and customers use to visualise structures, machines and environments.

Because the software offers an easy method of creating and modifying images, it has become a standard tool for many jobs.

Many draughters use AutoCAD to turn the concepts and specifications of architects, engineers and other manufacturing designers into blueprints and drawings. Production workers then use these plans to create tools, machines and structures. Draughters often focus on such specialties as aeronautics, civils, architecture or electronics.

The Autodesk Certified AutoCAD, Advanced Steel, Inventor and Revit training provided by KYA CAD is computer-based design training that most modern engineering companies require their Draughtsmen to be proficient in. KYA CAD provides from basic to advanced internationally recognised and accredited courses in these Autodesk products.

The duration of the courses offered by KYA CAD vary between five days for basic software courses, to twelve weeks for a candidate to obtain an internationally recognised Professional Certification.

KYA CAD (formerly CAE Academy) has provided Autodesk Software Training to over five thousand candidates since 2002. And since 2009 it has provided Autodesk Professional Certification training to over four hundred and fifty candidates of which in excess of eighty percent (80%) are currently employed in the engineering and related industries.

KYA, through its partners, offers a range of accredited technical training opportunities within the Engineering and Built Environment sector. As jobs of the future change, and some are at risk of becoming obsolete, the booming global population means that construction will remain a critical sector going forward. Technological advances create opportunities to develop skills to enable and support design and construction and KYA, through its training partners, provides training in core computer packages, sought after by employers in the sector.

Computer aided design (CAD) and draughting skills can be applied to a wide range of sectors and specialisations, depending on what you like to draw and what your other skills are. The ability to create diagrams and illustrations with computer software is a useful skill that can lead to a variety of jobs in fields such as electrical, aeronautical, mechanical, electronic, architectural and civil draughting.
