PARIS CITÉ UNIVERSITY: USTH NAMED THE SOLE PRIORITY STRATEGIC PARTNER IN VIETNAM FOR EDUCATION AND RESEARCH

On 26 February 2026, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) met with representatives of Paris Cité University to discuss future cooperation in education and research. Paris Cité University reaffirmed its strong commitment to strengthening collaboration with USTH, particularly through the development of Vietnam–France double degree programs and joint research initiatives.

Under its focused international strategy, Paris Cité University selects one sole priority strategic partner in each country. In Vietnam, USTH has been designated as its only priority strategic partner in education and research.

Building on the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), the two institutions are currently working toward launching double degree programs in Advanced Materials Science and Nanotechnology, Medical Science and Technology, and Chemistry, with agreements expected to be signed in the third quarter of 2026.

Paris Cité University is a leading French research university and an active member of the USTH Consortium, contributing to teaching and co-supervision in several Master’s and PhD programs.

🇫🇷 USTH Delegation Visit to France – Strengthening Partnerships and Alumni Connections 🤝

🔺During his working visit to France at the end of 2025, Assoc. Prof. Tran Dinh Phong, Vice Rector of USTH, had the opportunity to meet with USTH’s French partners and reconnect with USTH students and alumni currently studying and conducting research in France.

❤️A highlight of the visit was the meeting at the University of Lille, where he engaged in an open and inspiring exchange with 13 USTH students and alumni, including double-degree students, master’s students, a PhD candidate under Program 89, and a postdoctoral researcher who is also an alumnus of GEN 6 AMSN. The discussion reflected not only the strong academic links between USTH and French universities but also the shared desire to strengthen connections within the USTH community in France and across Europe.

🤝This engagement reflects USTH’s ongoing commitment to supporting its students and alumni abroad, fostering long-term academic ties, and reinforcing the university’s global presence.

[GOOD NEWS] Prof. Đinh Thị Mai Thanh, Rector of the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH), has just been awarded the title of « Officier de l'Ordre des Palmes académiques » by decision of the Prime Minister of France.

⚜ The Palmes académiques is one of the most prestigious and long-standing distinctions of the French Government. Established by Emperor Napoléon I in the early 19th century, it honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to education, science, culture, and the arts.

⚜ The decision to bestow this high distinction upon Prof. Dr. Đinh Thị Mai Thanh is a recognition of her significant contributions to the development of USTH, as well as her efforts in strengthening educational and research cooperation between Vietnam and France.

⚜ This decoration is not only a great honor for Prof. Đinh Thị Mai Thanh personally, but also a source of pride for the entire USTH community of faculty, staff, and students. It is a clear testament to the growing importance of USTH in fostering and advancing Vietnam–France collaboration in higher education and scientific research.

[TIN VUI] GS.TS. Đinh Thị Mai Thanh – Hiệu trưởng Trường Đại học Khoa học và Công nghệ Hà Nội (USTH) – vừa được Thủ tướng Pháp ký quyết định trao tặng Huân chương Cành cọ Hàn lâm hạng Officier (Palmes académiques).

⚜Huân chương Cành cọ Hàn lâm là một trong những phần thưởng danh giá và lâu đời nhất của Chính phủ Pháp, được Hoàng đế Napoléon I thiết lập từ đầu thế kỷ XIX nhằm vinh danh những cá nhân có đóng góp xuất sắc trong giáo dục, khoa học, văn hóa và nghệ thuật.

⚜Việc GS.TS. Đinh Thị Mai Thanh được Chính phủ Pháp quyết định trao tặng phần thưởng cao quý này là sự ghi nhận những cống hiến quan trọng của Giáo sư đối với sự phát triển của USTH và trong việc thúc đẩy quan hệ hợp tác giáo dục – nghiên cứu giữa Việt Nam và Pháp.

⚜Quyết định trao tặng Huân chương Cành cọ Hàn lâm cho GS.TS. Đinh Thị Mai Thanh không chỉ là vinh dự lớn lao đối với cá nhân, mà còn là niềm tự hào của toàn thể giảng viên, chuyên viên và sinh viên USTH; đồng thời là minh chứng rõ nét cho vai trò ngày càng quan trọng của USTH trong việc gắn kết và thúc đẩy quan hệ hợp tác Việt Nam – Pháp trên lĩnh vực giáo dục đại học và nghiên cứu khoa học.

🌏 Humans of ICO!
From early to mid-September, Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Ngan, Officer of the International Cooperation Department, USTH, had a business trip to three partner institutions in France: Université de Montpellier (Faculty of Pharmacy), Université Sorbonne Paris Nord, and Université de La Rochelle.

The meetings were a valuable opportunity to:
✨ Review the progress and future development of double-degree programs
✨ Discuss new pathways for student exchange, internships, and research mobility
✨ Strengthen coordination through dedicated focal points
✨ Explore potential areas for joint research and curriculum development

This visit reaffirmed USTH’s strong commitment to fostering international cooperation and creating more academic and professional opportunities for our students and faculty. 🌟

🎓 Opening Ceremony of the Academic Year 2025–2026 🎓

USTH held its Opening Ceremony in conjunction with the National Opening Ceremony of the new academic year, marking the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Education and Training.

🌟 The combination of on-site and online ceremonies, with the central hub at the National Convention Center connected to thousands of training institutions across the country, symbolized the harmony between tradition and modernity, national spirit and aspiration for global integration. It opened a new journey of knowledge, filled with excitement and determination.

In this solemn atmosphere, USTH proudly celebrated the beginning of the academic year, placing trust in the path of innovation, creativity, and breakthroughs led by our young generation.

On this occasion, USTH is delighted to welcome nearly 1,100 new students of Gen 16, including nearly 35 international students from France. 🌍🇫🇷 We look forward to seeing them grow, contribute, and shine within our dynamic and diverse academic community.

Our special cultural flight has successfully landed at USTH!

On July 18th, the A21 building was transformed into a vibrant “airport” where students, lecturers, and guests took off on a unique cultural journey celebrating the rich blend of French and Vietnamese cultures.

🧳 Each booth – a captivating stopover:
From delicious cuisine and traditional music to fun games and creative displays, every corner was filled with authentic cultural vibes and interactive experiences.

🌏 Above all, it was a journey of connection:

🌐📚USTH Participates in ASAIHL 2025 in Cambodia: Advancing Digitalization in Higher Education

📍From July 6 to 9, 2025, the ASAIHL 2025 Conference is taking place in the Kingdom of Cambodia, hosted by BELTEI International University, under the theme “Digitalization of Higher Education.”

🔴Representing the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH), Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest – Principal Rector, and Dr. Giang Anh Tuan – Deputy Director of the Department of Equipment Management and IT Support, have been invited to attend this important international event.

🔖 At the 163rd ASAIHL Board Meeting, Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest, member of the ASAIHL Board participated in the plenary session to share Vietnam’s and USTH’s perspectives on the digital transformation of higher education.

💡🤝USTH’s participation in ASAIHL 2025 reflects the university’s strong commitment to enhancing international engagement while contributing meaningfully to its strategic goals of strengthening institutional governance and accelerating digital transformation, aligning with regional and global trends in higher education.

On June 16, 2025, the three pioneer Chemistry students of the USTH–UPEC Double Degree program successfully defended their bachelor theses.
We are proud of their achievements and delighted with the success of this first exchange year. Hope to see you at the 2024–2025 Graduation Ceremony!
