If you’re a high school senior or just finished school and you’re not sure what’s next, it’s okay.

You don’t have to have it all figured out right now.
But if college is expensive, jobs are hard to come by, and you're looking for some direction — the Guard can give you structure and options.

No pressure. Just possibilities.

There’s a lot more to drill weekends than people think.

Yes, we train hard. Yes, it’s early mornings and muddy boots.
But it’s also learning new skills, building trust, and knowing the person next to you has your back no matter what.

It’s not like anything else out there — in a good way.

Today isn’t about politics or headlines. It’s about remembering the people we lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the way our country came together when it mattered most.

September 11, 2001 changed everything. A lot of us remember exactly where we were that morning — and how we felt.

For many, that day sparked a call to serve. That includes a lot of us in the National Guard.

We remember. We honor. And we keep showing up — for our communities, for our country, and for each other.

If you’re from Brattleboro, Bennington, Bellows Falls, or anywhere in Southern Vermont — we’re your team.

We live here. We work here. We serve here.
The Guard is part of your community, not something far away.

Come talk to a real person about your options. No recruiters in dress blues and clipboards — just a real conversation.

There’s no “perfect time” to make a change.

Most people who join the Guard were just trying to figure things out — college, career, life — and decided to take a step.

That first step is the hardest. After that, things start to move.
You don’t need a five-year plan. You just need to want more than where you’re at right now.

Drill weekends aren’t easy. That’s the point.

You train hard, push yourself, and leave stronger than you came in.
But you also hang with a team that’s got your back.

There’s something about working alongside people who actually care that makes it worth it.

Not everyone joins the Guard to serve forever.
Some people do four or six years, get their degree paid for, get solid training, and move on.

Others stay in and build a full career.

Either way, you leave with more than you started — more discipline, more confidence, more options.

You’ve got time to figure it out. I’m just here to help you start.

One of the questions I get all the time:
"Do I have to give up my life to join the Guard?"

The answer is no. This isn’t active duty. You serve part-time — one weekend a month, two weeks in the summer.

You still go to college. You still work your regular job.
But now, you’ve got a second paycheck, benefits, and a mission that actually means something.

You don’t have to wait until you’re 30 to become a leader.

The Guard trains people to lead early. Whether you’re managing equipment, mentoring others, or making decisions under pressure — the skills you learn here translate into real life and real careers.

Want to build confidence and leadership experience before most people even finish school? This is a good place to start.
