What if you worked 12 hours… but your timesheet suddenly shows 9?
California caregivers sometimes discover that hours were changed after they were submitted—or that meal breaks were added even though no real break was taken.
An employer can correct a genuine mistake. But hours you actually worked generally can’t simply be erased to reduce your pay or overtime.
Warning signs can include:
• Your clock-out time was changed
• Overnight hours disappeared
• A meal break was added that you never took
• Your hours were reduced just enough to avoid overtime
• Your submitted timesheet doesn’t match your paycheck
If something doesn’t look right, save copies of your timesheets, schedules, texts, pay records, and any other evidence showing when you actually worked.

Your hours matter. If you worked them, they shouldn’t simply disappear.
