Nothing beats getting out of the office and onto the factory floor. Yesterday’s road trip to the University of Maineas a powerful reminder of why we do what we do at Vantage Point Recruiting.The day kicked off with a great lunch catching up with two Plant Managers we placed last year. Seeing their leadership in action and hearing about the teamwork driving their operation forward is the ultimate reward.

The highlight was a deep dive into the future of Maine’s manufacturing economy at the Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC). Organized by Maine International Trade Center (MITC), highlighting Maine's defense industry and key partnerships. The tour showcased how the AMC bridges the gap between academic expertise and real-world industry needs:

• Prototyping & Design: Seeing where ideas become tangible products.
• Industry 4.0: Exploring the cutting edge of Robotics and AI.
• Industry Growth: Understanding the AMC’s role as a vital hub for Maine manufacturers.

A few tips to get the interview and make a positive first impression:

1. Tailor your resume to the job. Hiring managers will glance at it. Make sure your skills match the role's key needs.

2. Use the job posting to predict their toughest quetions. If a skill is listed as "critical", expect a deep dive. Have a real story ready that proves you're ability to be successful in the role. Rehearse your story prior to the interview - you want to be clear, concise and confident.

3. Turn small talk into a strategic advantage. When they ask, "How's your day", don't just say "good", mention something relevant about their company or industry to show you're engaged and prepared.

4. Show how you solve problems, not just that you can. Instead of just saying, "I'm great at handling challenges", break down a specific situation where you identified a problem, took action, and got results.

5. Follow up with a message that adds value. After the interview, send a note with a quick insight related to your discussion - maybe an article, a case study, or a fresh idea based on your conversation.
