All lanes of U.S. 22 on the Veterans Memorial Bridge between Weirton and Steubenville will close overnight twice this weekend for a bridge inspection.

The closures will be from (1) Friday/Saturday Midnight until 4 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 and (2)
Midnight Saturday/Sunday until 4 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 11.

WHO KNOWS WHERE YOUR ORIGINAL WILL IS?

While much of our practice focuses on injury and disability claims, we also help clients with Wills, estate planning, and probate matters.

We occasionally receive calls from families who cannot locate an original Will - or have only a copy.

It’s an important reminder: you will not be the person looking for your Will when it is needed. It is your executor or executrix who will need it.

Make sure your executor knows where your original Will is and how to access it. And if you have an older Will, tell your attorney so appropriate steps can be taken to revoke it.

A little planning now can avoid unnecessary problems later.

🟢🟡FORMER PRINCIPAL AT BROOKE HIGH SCHOOL WAIVES PRELIMINARY HEARING 🟢🟡

Eric James waived his right to a Preliminary Hearing in Magistrate Court. His case is now bound over (transferred) to Brooke County Circuit Court for further proceedings.

His bond was also modified from $200,000 cash only to $200,000 cash or corporate surety (posting through a licensed bondsperson). If he does post bond, he will be subject to several extra restrictions to both ensure his return to Court and for the safety of the community.

🚨UPDATE: James waived his preliminary hearing. There was a bond modification hearing as well. Defense asked for the $200,000 cash bond to be reduced to $25,000 surety, arguing James was not a threat to society and said his profession as an educator showed he had character. Magistrate Matthew Harvey ruled that the bond would remain at $200,000 but be a surety bond, which means James would have to come up with 10% to get out on bond. If he does, he would be on house arrest with GPS monitoring at a location of the court’s approval. He is also banned from being on or near any Brooke County owned or managed properties and he will not be allowed contact with or access to children.

❓What’s next? James will have to be indicted by a Grand Jury or waive indictment. The next session of grand jury is set to happen November 2nd. More tonight on News9!

🟢🟡UPDATE — BROOKE HIGH SCHOOL INVESTIGATION

Today’s preliminary hearing involving former Brooke High School Principal Eric James was continued. The State has also filed two additional felony charges of "Intentionally intercepting or attempting to intercept wire, oral or electronic communication" against James, while the investigation still continues.

For students and families affected by this situation, today’s developments are another reminder that there are still important questions to be answered - including the full extent and duration of the alleged recording activity and who may have been affected.

Last Friday, Carey & Stewart filed a civil lawsuit on behalf of a Brooke High School student arising from the discovery of recording devices in the school’s girls’ locker room facilities. We will continue to closely follow the criminal investigation while pursuing answers and justice for our client through the civil process.

Brooke High School Recording Investigation

The reports concerning a recording device discovered in a Brooke High School locker room raise serious concerns for students and their families.

At this time, a criminal investigation is ongoing, and many important facts remain unknown - including who may have been recorded, what was recorded, how long the device may have been present, and whether any recordings were accessed or shared.
