✨ CHAMPION SPOTLIGHT: Greg Copeland

He’s a devoted family man who enjoys spending time with his wife, three boys, and two dogs, as well as playing hockey and golf and gathering around a campfire with family and friends. He became involved with Best Buddies as a supporter through a close friend’s daughter who has participated in the program since high school. He believes deeply in the organization’s mission and the impact of raising funds, increasing awareness, and providing support. Although he typically prefers to support events behind the scenes, he is honored and excited to step into the role of Champion of the Year Candidate and contribute to such a meaningful cause.

With eight years of experience as an elementary Best Buddies chapter advisor, her passion for inclusion became even more personal when her daughter, Addison, was born with Down syndrome five years ago. She is dedicated to supporting Best Buddies’ mission of friendship, inclusion, and acceptance, envisioning a world where everyone is valued, welcomed, and given the opportunity to thrive.

She is especially excited about the Champion of the Year campaign and the incredible energy, love, and connection that bring people together to celebrate inclusion and authenticity.

✨ CHAMPION SPOTLIGHT: Don Black

Don Black is a veteran radio personality with more than 30 years of experience, currently serving as Director of Content and an on-air personality for Milwaukee’s Jammin’ 98.3. Beyond his broadcasting career, he is passionate about community service and was a founding member of the University of Iowa Dance Marathon, which supports children and families affected by pediatric cancer.

Although this is Don’s first official year with Best Buddies, he previously hosted a Champion of the Year event in Peoria, Illinois, where he became inspired by the organization’s mission of promoting inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He believes everyone deserves friendship, respect, opportunity, and a sense of belonging.
As a Champion of the Year candidate, Don hopes to introduce more Milwaukee residents to Best Buddies, build meaningful relationships with participants, and raise both funds and awareness. He plans to leverage his extensive network of business leaders, entertainers, fellow DJs, and community members, along with social media and creative music-centered fundraising events.

Don’s ultimate goal is to use his voice, connections, and passion for community service to advance inclusion, bring people together, and create a lasting impact beyond the campaign.
