The future of aviation is being built by local talent.

Through Joby Aviation’s training pathways, apprentices like Vanessa and Emmy are gaining hands-on experience, building confidence, and preparing for careers as certificated aircraft mechanics.

For some participants, this opportunity began with uncertainty about whether they had the right skills. Through paid, on-the-job learning, mentorship, and real-world experience, they are discovering what they are capable of.

As Omar Perez, Workforce Development Associate at Joby Aviation, shared, “If we want to build something new, we have to invest in the people who will make it possible.”

Workforce Santa Cruz County is proud to partner with Joby Aviation to help expand these opportunities for local residents and support the skilled workforce needed for the future of advanced air mobility.

Applications are now open for the Santa Cruz County Youth Commission! We're looking for 11 passionate students (ages 14–18) to advise the Board of Supervisors, develop real solutions, and represent the voice of youth in local government.

✅ Work directly with County leaders

✅ Build leadership skills and make a real impact

💰 Earn $75 per meeting attended!
