A large sign-on bonus can feel like confirmation that you’re making the “right” decision.

And honestly? That’s a totally normal way to think about it.

Dermatology providers spend years training, sacrificing and pushing toward a career they’ve worked incredibly hard to build. So when a practice puts a large number in front of you, it naturally feels validating.

But one of the most important truths about evaluating dermatology opportunities is this…

The things that create the biggest emotional reaction upfront are not always the things that create the most satisfaction long term.

Years later, providers are usually thinking less about the sign-on bonus and more about things like…

✔ Whether the schedule feels sustainable
✔ If support staff actually supports them
✔ Whether compensation grows fairly over time
✔ Patient flow and efficiency
✔ Leadership, autonomy and long-term stability
